Requesting help with Monty Python reference

I am a long-time fan of Monty Python. I have all the Flying Circus on DVD and watch them ofen. I have all three movies and many of the troup's side projects, but I must confess there is one reference that I am just NOT getting. I have googled it, and I guess I am not spelling it correctly because I can't find anything. I even asked a British friend, and even he didn't know. This distresses me because getting Monty Python always makes me feel so damn smart and smug...so, I am throwing myself on the mercy of the Dope. Who the heck is this Reginald Mordling, or Mordlen, (?) they always refer to? I'll feel inept until I know.

I don't remember the Python reference, but I'm guessing it's Reginald Maulding.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reginald_Maudling

Seems to fit :- British cabinet minister at the appropriate time.

Oh Thank you, thank you for aiding me in my continuing quest to be smart and smug!

So, it's "Maudling". No wonder I couldn't find it.

Reginald Maudling's wife would never have to do this...
