Civ4: Colonization - CapnPitt game blog (French)

In a pitiful attempt to emulate glee, I decided to try my hand at blogging a game to show a non-hyper liberty bell strategy. (no offense glee, I’m in awe of your successes).

Civ4: Colonization - CapnPitt game blog (French)
Standard game, playing Samuel de Champlain (France) on Pioneerdifficulty

Chose France for no particular reason

Weird game. Not usually the way I play. Much more of a north-south map (with me being at the far south) than I’m used to.

Good luck!

I think that a ‘goody hut’ which falls into your Cultural area (i.e. 1498) still yields a result.
Probably it doesn’t count as being visited by a Scout (which is more favourable).

I’m surprised your early Native Villages didn’t give any result - was there not a map or experience points? (Especially since your Scout got promoted!)

Wee! Another game-blog. I’m subscribing

Glad to see the usual suspects!

The scout might have gotten XP, but it wasn’t clear. No “our warriors will show you…” or whatever that phraseology is. Definitely no maps.

It’s interesting reading this, which I wasn’t sure about when I was doing mine. Thanks.

Do you have any theories why the King wouldn’t convey your Treasure in 1553?

How is your Rebel Sentiment doing?

First of all, glad it’s interesting. Your’s certainly was.

You just made me think of why the king may not have offered to transport the treasure. It was in Montreal, which is a port, but not my “capital.” That’s the best possibility I can think of.

If I recall, it’s around 18% in Quebec, 4 or so in Montreal (should be going up fast now), and 0 in the other two. It is liberty bell time.

I doubt I have much time tonight (election coverage) or ability (minor surgery tomorrow) to play more soon. But I’ll be back at it.

Thanks - and my ‘1599’ game is reaching a conclusion…

I might try a sample game to test if you can only send Treasure Trains home from your first Port.

Good luck with the operation.

REF 21 regulars, 9 Dragoons, 14 artillery, 4 warships
French colonists: 2 militia, 300 horses, 357 guns

May I ask what your populations are?

The King seems to have a lot of troops and I wonder if that’s because you have to convert a lot of Colonists to Rebels…

I’m guessing you’ll declare Independence about 1675.

Quebec is 17, Montreal 14, Guadelupe 9, Cayenne 7

I’m going to start really laying in guns and horses soon, and start building cannon. I’m not as optimistic on the early date of revolution. I’m thinking 1685-1690.

Ah - that’s a lot of people to instil Rebel Sentiment in!

Fingers crossed for you…
