Today turned out to be more financially lucrative than I thought it would be. I have found $11.00 throughout the day today. All in bills no less.

Where was this kind of luck when I was unemployed? I hope maybe its a sign that things are about to be on the upswing. I mean the economy must be improving if multiple people are just leaving cash money.

I found $2000 that I got to keep once.

(It was a paycheck I put in my briefcase and forgot about for several months)

It was probably dropped by people who aren't used to carrying cash, a sign of the bad economy.

People are carrying more cash now because their credit cards are maxed out and they can't get another one.

On my last two visits to a local car dealership (we bought our last vehicle there and have most of our service done there too), I found valuables on the ground right next to our car as I was getting out. First a cell phone, and then a wallet that had obviously been lying there overnight. When the receptionist called the wallet guy, he hadn't even realized his wallet was missing.

I'll be kind of disappointed if I don't find anything next time.

You should all do like one of my brothers does. He runs, usually once a day, and while he runs he looks or glances at the ground for money. Just last week on one run he found $64! Of course, he doesn't find it every time he runs although he is almost always on the look out. Sometimes he even checks parking lots, when his kids are with him. LOL I don't think they let him get away with that very often. Yes, he's a bit ... odd. Oops, don't tell him I said that!

I found when the weather changes I can find loads of CTA (Chicago Transit Authority) cards with a LOT of money on them. I have found weekly, monthly passes, cards with $20 or $30 on them.

But I always find them when the weather changes. I think it's because people are taking out gloves from their pockets and the cards slip out. By the time the weather is set, people no longer lose things 'cause they have their act together.

Sometimes people engineer to 'find money'.... for example, like when you put away certain of your clothes for winter, you tuck a $20 bill (or whatever) in the pocket not to be 'discovered' until next season. Which of course is a great thing if you have enough extra cash to do so.

Similarly, I've found five bucks several times in various backpacks that I hadn't completely cleaned out whenever I changed over to a new one. Always made me smile.

I am not superstitious, but last year my husband did something that made me stop and think about "karma."

First, he found $5 laying on the ground. He picked it up in whatever pub he was in and said, "Hey, did anyone lose $5?" At which point someone (of course) said, "Oh yeah, that's mine." He handed it over and went happily on his way.

Three hours later he found a ten dollar bill on the ground and suspected the guy ahead of him in line at the convenience store had dropped it. So he tapped the guy on the shoulder and said, "I believe this is yours." The guy grabbed for his pockets and said, "Yes! Thanks so much, I needed that."

The next day he was walking home alone and no one was around. He spotted and envelope on the ground and bent down to find it had $670. Unmarked, no one to return it to.

I should mention that my husband is a leprechaun.

We took a MUCH needed weekend away.

I was a little spooked.
