Suggestions for Italian restaurant in Philly

Hi,

I'll be in Philadelphia for the weekend and I would like to have dinner at a reasonably priced, non-touristy Italian restaurant. I have never been to Philadelphia before so I am looking forward to what your city has to offer. I am Italian so something authentic is ideal. Any suggestions for Saturday night? Thanks!

I'm not from Philadelphia, but I just checked with a former Bryn Mawr resident who still has family in the area. Her first thought was DiLullo's, but the place is now known as Moonstruck. It does, however, still feature Italian cuisine.

A more specialized board which you may want to check out is Chowhound.

DiLorenzo's

I don't know if you are wedded to downtown or even the city itself, but THE BEST italian restaurant around Phialdelphia is DeLorenzo's Pizza in Fairless Hills. 914 Trenton Rd
Fairless Hills, PA 19030, off of Route 1 and 95.
I will say the atmosphere is regular pizza joint at best, but the food is to die for. Have not had a bad meal there. Having lived in the city all the way through law school, it wasn't till I left the usual S. Philly scene I found amazing Italian in Philly.

sternvogel, thanks for the other resource. That was helpful as well. Modo Mio was mentioned a couple of times. Does anyone have any comments on that one too?

pkmcd, Thanks! These are the kinds of places I would never find unless you ask the locals. I'll look into it.
