8 years ago today (Mundane, pointless, gonna share)

8 years ago today, I was on a plane to Las Vegas. My wedding dress was stuffed into an overhead compartment because they wouldn't let me hang it up in those little closets behind first-class.

Two hours previously, then-BoyfriendofWhatsit and I had sent a mass email to every single person we knew in the world, informing them that 1) we were getting married, 2) they were not invited, but 3) they were more than welcome to watch on the chapel's webcam!

The next day, accompanied by four of our friends that ignored item #2 and showed up anyway, bless them, we walked down the aisle in a lovely little Las Vegas chapel, said our vows in front of a minister that looked a lot like Kojak, and just like that, embarked on what so far has been 8 years of mostly-marvelous wedded bliss.

8 years. Sheez. That's longer than I've done just about anything.

Congrats! My husband and I got married in Vegas, too. It was so much fun! Our anniversary is Feb 12 - five years ago now.

Cool! For our first anniversary we're renewing our vows with Elvis there week after next.

It'll be my first time in the states, everyone I've spoken too says Vegas is unbelievable!

My cousin got married in Vegas in an attempt to keep his fiance's mother from completely meddling in everything (fiance was in complete agreement; may have even been her idea). They refused to even say when it was going to happen. They had a party afterwards--and got married again at the party in a complete surprise to everyone. Too cool.
