I am sitting at 999 right now wondering if this as significant an event as I feel it is. The 1000th should be significant. But what? I dig The Who and the Stones, huge ELP fan, and have things in my collection from Bach to Kid Rock (it almost rhymes). So I ask you, the enlightened ones. What shall be the 1000th song?

"Land of 1000 Dances" or
"1000 Stars" by Big Country.
Or, as something to strive for, "1,000,000" by R.E.M.

That must have taken ages!
I've tried Napster a couple of times, but the other party always disconnected before I'd gotten a complete song. Not a sound system. And at that each song took 20-60 minutes.

You gotta get DSL. It takes me less than a minute to download stuff from other users with DSL. When I had a 56K modem, it took me about an hour a song too.

I really like the Land of a Thousand Dances idea, thanks. BTW, I counted through my library and only 63 of 999 songs are "borrowed" from other Napster-ites. That leaves 936 from my own collection. And DSL is absolutely the only way to go.
