Animated shows where the characters change outfits regularly?

Are there any animated TV shows where the characters wear different clothes, instead of the same outfit each day? I can't think of any! Well, in terms of webcomics, Questionable Content does feature the characters in different clothes. So I suppose we can count comics, too.

Bugs Bunny had quite a . . . "diverse" wardrobe.

In webcomics, Agatha Heterodyne of Girl Genius and some of the other characters change outfits now and then. Just to grab some random examples, she's in different outfits here, here, here ( in disguise ), here, here, and here.

I should not know this because I am way too old, but I thought it was a funny little show: the series Braceface (starring Alicia Silverstone) had different outfits. Admittedly it was a show for preteen girls, so maybe having a varied wardrobe was de rigeur.

Frankly I'm surprised Josie and the Pussycats didn't have costume changes -- well, aside from their "normal" outfits and the leopard-skin leotards they wore for concert attire. And on the Archie cartoons, I can't believe they allowed Veronica Lodge to wear the same outfit every day! Absurd!

I'm trying to think of episodes within shows where there were changes now since it doesn't seem there are too many shows where this happened. Like the Simpsons episode where they go on vacation (Summer of 4'2) and Lisa wears "cool" clothes.

Does anime count? Card Captor Sakura has different outfits for every Clow card, I suspect because they wanted to show they weren't cheating with the animation like He-Man used to do.

Disney's The Weekenders—god rest it's zombie bones—used to do it.

Aaaand...TV Tropes' Limited Wardrobe entry has a list of shows that were exceptions to the rule, as well. (Say goodbye to your day, incidentally. )

TV tropes - "Unlimited Wardrobe" lists examples of characters having large wardrobes, including a western animation section. On the anime side, I hadn't noticed that Asahina Mikuru in Suzumiya Haruhi never wears the same casual clothes twice -- apart from the variety of cosplay outfits that Suzumiya forces her to wear.

My recollection is that the characters in the Macross section, at least, of Robotech wore different civilian outfits. However, since most of the characters were uniformed military, it didn't come up much. As I think about it, secondary characters always wore the same thing. But on the rare occasions when one of the leads was in civilian dress, it wasn't always the same thing.

Kirika and Mireille in Noir wear different outfits just about every episode for about the first half of the series, then they apparently needed to trim back the art budget or something because they wear pretty much the same stuff for the entire second half. Boo.

In Pokémon, Ash and Dawn have worn different clothes for their contests appearances, and all three are adventurers are wearing new outfits now as their travels take them north towards Snowpoint City. Ash's outfit has also changed over the previous years several times.

You do realize that between your first and third links, only one of the characters changes outfits? And not by much?

No, but between my second and third links, one of the characters changes his outfit pretty radically. The guy in the brown robe in pic 2 is the same guy in red in pic 3.

Nobody in the show, except Yuki does. And she's rarely out of her school uniform.

The Endless Eight arc of the second season shows them in a number of different outfits -
SPOILER:
all while living out essentially the same events multiple times. The similarity of events really points out the dissimilarity of their outfits - the yukatas the girls wear, particularly.

The jacket she's wearing in the first link reminds me of Vash's jacket in Trigun.

I've been watching a lot of Bleach lately, and I've noticed that Ichigo and his friends tend to wear different outfits when not fighting or attending school. Rukia wears some pretty cute dresses over the course of the series. In the second episode, one of my favorite scenes is when Ichigo's little sister (age 11) goes into his room to ask if he's seen a dress of hers and a pair of her pajamas. After she leaves, Rukia emerges from Ichigo's closet, much to his surprise, wearing his sister's pajamas (hey, she's 4'8", of course they fit).

Padme Amidala is just as much a clotheshorse in the cartoons as she is in the movies:

Centurions.

Costume changes were part of the schtick.

Although she mostly wore her green jacket, skirt and boots outfit, didn't Daria change ocassionally. Or was that just to show how she never changed?

I wasn't a great watcher of the show, by the way, so I'm not really sure.

Only very rarely, and usually just as a one-time thing. Probably not more than most cartoon characters change their clothes, and for the same reasons.

This is actually made more amusing by the fact that Daria's sister, and her own group of friends, were a bunch of obsessive fashion mavens...but only changed their default outfits every couple of seasons, at most!

Not a TV show, but I was impressed that the third game in the Gabriel Knight series from Sierra included clothing changes. The game is set over three days, and at least one of the protagonists (Grace) changes clothes each day. Nothing fancy, just different shirts and slacks. IIRC Gabriel himself wears the same jeans and only changes his shirt once, but that's consistent with the character.

Pretty much all superhero animated shows that I know of. For whatever reason, they take great pains with civilian clothes, often sending them to places with adverse weather (very hot, very cold, very windy, etc.) just to be able to draw them in different clothes, like bikini's, earmuffs, etc. I think this is a reaction to having them draw their superhero images constantly, so the animators try to take a break and give them different things to draw.

Spiderman, for example, has a full 4 season wardrobe for Peter Parker in every incarnation I've seen him in, and he often is sent to the beach, boat trips, etc. where he and his companions have to wear swimming suits.

The exceptions to these may be Superman, who usually is shown wearing a blue suit (since he's a reporter) and Batman, who is rarely shown out of costume.

On the other hand, there's Tony Stark, who has a different Iron Man costume for different villains.

The first link is fan art.

The second photo, showing Daria in a Quinn-like outfit, was a one time "snap Quinn out of it outfit" when Quinn decided to turn "deep" for an episode- "Quinn the Brain," I think it's called.

I think Daria had to wear a bridesmaid's dress at some point, and didn't she wear something else in the paintball episode?

I haven't watched it in a while but the Venture Brothers has a few characters who regularly change clothes in each episode - Brock Samson has a number of different regular outfits. Hank and Dean also wear different clothes when needed, like when they dressed up as ninjas to sneak into a hotel, if I remember right (I think it was from season 1).

On one of the dvd commentary tracks, Doc Hammer or Jackson Publick remarks that he hates how cartoons always wear the same thing, hence Brock having a rotating wardrobe. Doctor Venture changes outfits occasionally, and the boys wearing the same thing all the time is an intentional gag on how removed from reality they are. The rest of the cast is usually in costume.

God, finally! I thought I was the only one that bugged.

It was even worse when they'd get taken captive and locked up (sometimes even in one of those old west jail style cells with the open bars) with a full bandolier of explosives.

On Daria the girls would have different clothes on several occasions: fashion shows, camping trips, weddings etc. Also during the end credits of every show all of the major characters would be shown as different alter-egos in unusual dress and occupations.

Oh yeah. I forgot about Daria. Well, I thought of it briefly because I know they changed Quinn's t shirt at one point.

I did love the end credits, though! And clicking those links makes me wish the DVDs for the show were out already.
