I think I want one. I already have Verizon, and I’m not too keen on canceling (and paying the fee) in order to get an iPhone. Plus iPhone plans are pretty expensive.
I’ve read a couple of reviews that say it’s Verizon’s best phone, but it can’t complete with the iPhone.
Actually going to look at one today, I already have the data plan, and it is at the 2 years/replacement point on the moto 9m I currently have. Or at least hope they have one to look at!
I’m up for replacement next week. All I’d need to do for my plan is add in the data plan. I am kind of interested in the Storm 2, but I like the Droid’s slide out keyboard. It’d take some getting used to (I text way more than I talk), but it shouldn’t take me so long.
I do have an iPod Touch and I’m going to have to keep using that because the reviewers are saying that the Droid’s music and movies are horrid.
I’m prolly gonna get one, I despise the iphone and its holier then though attitude and I played a fair bit with programming Android back when it was at 0.9. Should be fun, the cost of the plan is a little off putting though. My current $40 one from tmobile gives me more then i need, and I’m in front of a computer most of the time. Decisions, decisions…
I thought it looked cool, but knowing Lucas industries is going to get royalties from my purchase, and they just recently trademarked the term “droid” makes me say, quite definitely, no.
Definite possibility, though not in the near future. I have the G1 (the 1.0 of Android phones, if you will) and love it, and I’m excited to see what the next few gens of Android & the phones do.
I just ordered one. There was $100 discount for ordering online and an additional $100 discount for the “New Every Two” plan (i.e. already a Verizon customer).
What are you, Amish or something?
I will wait for the feedback of the first wave of Droidbots. I am already on verizon and am due for a new phone ( I have the first generation of Chocolat, which apparently amazes the phone store people that it is still working and such.) I’ve never bought a phone other than my first phone and I want to keep up with the trends.
I’m considering it. I’m also locked into a contract with Verizon. I hate the Chocolate phone I got in 2008 when my old Razr crapped out on me. The prices for the service look high, but I know I get a discount through work so I’d have to see how much it was. I have very limited access to the internet at work, so I’d really like a smartphone so I don’t have to spend so long catching up when I get home from work.
I’d say if you’re happy with Verizon’s service and don’t want to switch, go ahead and get the Droid. But iPhone plans aren’t really what you’d call expensive, unless you go with an unlimited plan.
I have a 3G iPhone and have a wireless plan with 450 anytime minutes plus 5000 night and weekend minutes for $39.99per month. I have a $30 unlimited data plan and get 200 text messages for $5/month. This is more than enough for my needs, and before taxes and fees adds up to $74.99 a month, which I consider reasonable for this phone and level of service. Plus, I have over 4000 rollover minutes squirreled away.
As I say, you’d do fine staying with Verizon, but monthly rates for the iPhone are reasonably competitive.
I am seriously thinking about getting one and this is awesome news. I am eligible for an upgrade anytime now, and the Fearless Husband wanted to get me a new phone for my birthday anyway. Probably going to the Verizon store later today to test it out, then I’ll be ordering it online this weekend.
I have an old TracFone with B&W LCD screen. No camera, can’t store pics, no web surfing, etc. I don’t even carry it with me; it stays in my Jeep. I receive about one call a week, on average.
Mine is in the car for traveling. I make a few calls on it, because I prepay the minutes, but I don’t get any calls on it ever (everyone knows it won’t be on.)
