Why do Fox news sites crash my browser?

I use Firefox on Windows XP. Whenever I happen to click on a Fox local-news site, my browser completely locks up for several minutes, if I wait long enough there is a pop-up window that says “Warning: Unresponsive Script”. By the timing of the frozenness, it appears that it may have to do with loading Google Maps onto the site, but I’m not sure.

Any way I can prevent/turn off the “unresponsive script” before the computer becomes completely locked up? Or any other suggestions on how to deal with this? There are times I’m interested in a story that happens to be on a Fox News site and would like to be able to read it. Thank you for any and all info!!

What’s the web URL?

Oh goodness, it’s every “Fox” news site that I happen to visit, local to different cities in the US. They are generally linked to from cnn or fark.

One option is to disable all scripts and only allow the ones you need to run

To do so On firefox install the NoScript extension.

Delete your cache. Delete your cookies. Update flash player. Make sure you have the newest version of Firefox.

It’s probably all the bad karma.
