It's not at the link that Jophiel provides, but Crusader Kings II is $17.99 on Amazon (more than 50% off). This is exactly the sale I've been waiting for!

Gamefly (formerly Direct2Drive) is having a spring sale.

Arkham City $15. COD:MW2 $10 - which I'm not sure I can recommend at that price, but it's the lowest I've seen it... the coop is really good if you have someone to play with. Batman: AA $5.

Also, if "Lady Gaga" happens to be reading this thread (forgot your sdmb name, but I think you keep up with this thread), PM me your number, I lost it.

Mount and Blade series on steam is 75% off. Warband is the best of the bunch by far and if you're only going to get one, that's the one to get at $5. I recommend it - both for the single player, the moddability (play all sorts of ways), and we also get SDMB games going every once in a while where we decapitate each other with axes. Steam also has Jagged Alliance: Back In Action for $24 (40%).

Newegg has Diablo 3 preorder for $50 - not a big savings, but if you're going to get it anyway, that's cheaper.

Gamersgate has Just Cause 2 Complete for $6.25 (includes all DLC) - fantastic game and great deal. Thief series 75% off. Supreme Commander 2 $5. The Tomb Raider games 75% off. All Square Enix games on sale, looks like. Dungeon Siege 3 $12.50.

Steam has Alan Wake 50% off ($15) through Thursday afternoon. The daily sale is anomoly: warzone earth for $3.40 that's a different take on tower defense - you're the invader. There's the "EA Indie Bundle" (and how are you indie if you're EA?) for $20 - which has the 2 shank games, the 2 deathspank games, warp and gatling gears. All of those games are 50% off individually.

Steam also has Portal 2 for $7, which isn't listed on the deals page, but it's there when you go to the portal 2 page. Also portal 1+2 for $8.50.

Gamefly/D2D has Fear 3 for $5.

Gamersgate has the majesty series 75% off.

Greenmangaming has a bunch of stuff - NFS: Hot Pursuit and Shift for $6 each. Burnout Paradise ultimate box $6. King Arthur collection $7.50. Hearts of Iron 3 Collection $7.50. Other stuff.

Amazon digital has psychonauts for $4. Amazon has a few games on sale but it's really hard to tell what's on sale on amazon. Is there some sort of sort by discount or list recent discounts/current sales feature?

The reason for the Portal 2 sale is that the puzzle creator IDE has been released!

It seems super easy to use, and looks fantastic. Kind of like the promo renditions of rooms they have in the funny ads for Portal 2.

Steam has Company of Heroes 80% off (complete pack for $10, but Tales of Valor is skippable really, you can get the other 2 for $6), Commandos collection for $3.

Amazon has Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 Complete for $5, which is finally a price I'll pay to replace my old lost copy. It's an old game but still never dropped below $15-20. It's fun - I wish they'd make RCT4. Amazon also has all the Serious Sam games 75% off.

Amazon is doing 12 Days of Dynamite Deals. I don't know if they roll out new stuff each day or what. Currently they have as their featured sales:

Syndicate - $29.99 (50% off)
Square Enix Ultimate Collection - $7.49 (includes Just Cause 2, Tomb Raider: Guardian of Light, Tomb Raider: Underworld, Kain & Lynch 2, Supreme Commander 2) 92% savings
Bioshock 1 & 2 pack - $7.49 (81% off)
Hitman Pack (Silent Assassin, Code 47, Blood Money) - $6.99 (77% off)
X-Com Enforcer, X-Com Apocalypse - $2.99 each

Plus assorted other sales.

Amazon still having that sale, I haven't been paying attention to it like I should.

Notable: Payday The Heist $5, COD:MW2 $10 (worth that much for campaign/coop if you like that sort of thing - the coop is actually pretty good), NFS: Hot Pursuit $5, Sim City 4 $5, all the sims games/expansions 66% off, Tropico 3 $3, Metro 2033 $5.

Edit: Amazon is really fucking bad at trying to sell you stuff, which is amazing, since they sell so much stuff. They didn't list the bioshock pack (1+2) for $7.50 amongst the sales, but if you look at the top 10 sellers, there it is. Borderlands GOTY $7.50 too. Amazon is bad at letting you know what's on sale.

Disciple II: Gold Edition is free at GMG for the next 48ish hours.

Site's slow since people like their free stuff but you can "purchase" it and download it at some other date.

There are 2 simultaneous free weekends on steam - Civ 5 and Red Orchestra 2. You can play the full versions free until Sunday at 1pm PST. I'll be trying to organize some RO2 games, so contact me if you're interested. Just go to your games library and install them - restart steam if they aren't there. RO2 is 75% off ($10) and Civ 5 is 75% off too ($7.50 base game, $12.50 GOTY) if you decide to buy them.

Other steam sales: Metro 2033 $5, Braid $2.50, Dungeon Defenders $7.50, Binding of Isaac $2, Osmos $3... actually quite a few things that aren't on the front page but that are listed in the specials... seems to be some sort of indie game sale.

Saints Row 3 is $17 on GamersGate.

This is the "Because We May" sale that is currently going on across Steam, iOS and Android.

Trine is $1.50 at GMG. Like Just Cause 2, it's a game I plug whenever it comes up despite being around for a while now. One of those "can't go wrong at that price" deals.

Latest and greatest Humble Bundle is up. The last couple have been iffy (I mainly got them for the Android app versions) but this one is pretty golden.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent
Limbo
Psychonauts
Superbrothers: Swords & Sorcery EP
-- and pay over the average to get --
Bastion

Bastion is an awesome game. I haven't played but heard Limbo & Psychonauts highly recommended and Amnesia is the the go-to when someone asks "Name the scariest game you can..."

The 'worst' part about this bundle is that a lot of people probably own some or all of these already because they're so well regarded. If you don't, this is your chance to get them inexpensively.

Yeah, I'm really glad about this Bundle. These are the games I've heard about but haven't played. I did watch an LP of Bastion (which actually makes me despair a little about accomplishing everything in the game). I'm definitely picking this one up.

For those who don't know, the Bundle is "pay what you want". You get the bonus game (Bastion) if you pay more than the current average (which is at the moment still under $10).

I came in make sure the latest Humble Bundle was mentioned. Since it already is, I'll toss out that I already have Amnesia. It's very atmospheric and cower-in-the-corner-because-you-can't-fight-the-monsters scary. It's mostly puzzles and evading monsters, with a health and a sanity mechanic (stay out of the dark!). This is a perfect excuse to pick up Psychonauts and Limbo, which have been on my "maybe at the right price" list.

I'll also add that Amazon has a deal on Paradox games, including a bundle with Crusader Kings II, Victoria II, 2 Magicka games, and 2 Swords of the Stars games for under $13. I've been waiting for Crusader Kings II to drop to that price, so the bundle was a no-brainer. As mentioned up-thread, Amazon's promotion of these deals is lousy.

Yeah I was really excited to get this one for Psychonauts and Limbo, then when I went to Steam I realized I already had Limbo. Oh well! I haven't heard of Bastion before, so that may be interesting, and I've definitely heard of Amnesia but don't know if I have the guts to play it

I haven't used D2D since they became gamefly, but they're having a sale right now that's got some good stuff. Batman: Arkham City for $7.50 is the best deal on that by far. GTA4 $5, COD:MW2 $10, Batman: AA $5.

New sales every 48 hours apparently. Here's the current sale, not sure if the link will change for the next one, but just check their page.

New day in the gamefly sale.

Crysis/Warhead maximum edition $4.50. Just Cause 2 $5 (will be on steam for that price in a few weeks surely), $10 tropico 4, others. Is that Sniper: Ghost Warrior game worth $5?

Put on your hipster glasses and go retro with Worlds of Ultima 1 & 2 for free at GOG. They don't list an expiration on the offer so I don't know if they're permanently free or a limited offer.

More free stuff -- Green Man Gaming is giving away Commandos 3: Destination Berlin. You also get a 10% voucher on various games including the new Quantum Conundrum if you were interested in it.

Offer only lasts until 1100 UTC on June 22nd (6:00am Central US time tomorrow). As always, you can just "buy" it now and not bother downloading it until you're good and ready.

Still no hint of a Steam sale, but Amazon has begun its own summer sale. Some notable deals:

Max Payne 3 - $29.99 (50%)
Spec Ops: The Line - $24.99 (50%)
Civ V GoTY - $24.99 (50%)
Plethora of Paradox games - $19.99 (86%)

Some of these will actually give you a Steam activation code, so it's just as good as getting it on Steam.

Amazon adds games to their sale so it's advisable to check it out every once in a while.

Square Enix Pack with Just Cause 2, Kane and Lynch 2, Supreme Commander 2, Tomb Raider: Underworld and Lara Croft & The Guardian of Light for $7.50. Pretty great package there - JC2 and LCGOL are worth it alone.

Shogun: Total War $7.50. Or a total war bundle with Shogun, Medieval 2, Rome, Empire, and Napoleon with DLC (at least I think they all have their complete editions) for $30. Fall of the Samurai is $7.50 too - that's a standalone expansion, right? Would it be better to get Shogun or Fall of the Samurai?

Virtua Tennis 4 $5 or combined with Football Manager 2012 (which I assume is the most exciting game in the world) for $12.50

Package of Bulletstorm, Mirror's Edge, The Saboteur, Mercenaries 2, and Burnout Paradise Ultimate Box for $15

Psychonauts $4

Civ V: GoTY is now actually cheaper in the 2K Strategy Pack for $19.99 than to buy it alone.

You also get Civ IV: Complete and the Stronghold Collection. Even if you own or don't want those, it's still better than the $24.99 to buy Civ V: GoTY on its own.

If it stacks with other discounts, that could end up being pretty good. Is there some way to search GMG for games that are on sale though? "Bargain bucket" just lists them by price (so there's a ton of $1 DLCs in front) and "Hot Deals" doesn't seem to have any pattern to it - lots of full priced games in there.

Edit: It does seem to stack with other discounts. You can see what's already on sale by going to http://www.steamgamesales.com/ sorting by store, and then going to green man gaming.

I believe it stacks with games already on sale but not games that have a different voucher special (can only use one voucher) or special offers. They're offering $7 trade-in credit against End of Nations: Founders Edition if you got the free copy of Commandos 3 from them recently but it wouldn't let me stack the voucher on top of that.

And, yes, GMG is as bad as (or worse than) Amazon when it comes to organization and displaying sales.

Both.

If you must choose only one, then you should consider how well you like to play with firearms. Shogun 2 will have the classic spears, swords and bows, with firearms limited to inaccurate muskets and crappy cannon. If you choose one of the northern clans, guns may only show up late in the game or not at all. In Fall of the Samurai, the gun is supreme. You've got highly accurate rifles, artillery pieces, and Gatling guns. You can have great fun mowing down traditional Japanese units, The Last Samurai-style.

If you picked up Disciples II: Gold Edition when it was free from GMG, it's worth $3 in trade-in credit. I used the 25% voucher plus traded in Disciples II and got Mafia II for $8. I only grabbed Disciples II because it was free anyway so I call it a win.

Amazon keeps adding stuff but they're terrible about showing you what they're adding, so just keep checking their sale page.

It amazes me how Amazon has become one of the biggest retailers in the world while being so terrible at helping you find stuff to buy from them.

Notable games:

THQ Action Pack: Darksiders, Metro 2033, Nexuiz, Red Faction Armageddon + DLC, Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance $15
Bioshock 1/2 Pack $7.50
DeadSpace 2 $5
Payday The Heist $5 or $15 for 4 copies
Alice: Madness Returns $5
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit $5
All 5 original xcom games $3
COD: MW3 for $30. Not that I recommend it at that price, but it's rare to see any sale for that game so if you're gonna get it $30 will be the best price for a while. MW2 is $10 which is worth it for the coop missions.
Bulletstorm $5
Mafia 2 $5

Has anyone tried this one out? I'm taking an awesome class on children's literature, and today we discussed Alice in Wonderland, and I got to give a brief overview of the first in the series, which I quite enjoyed, but I've never tried this one.

Also, is there any word on whether Steam is going to do a summer sale this year?

Edit: there's a rumor going around that this is a list of games steam will be putting on sale. I have no idea whether there's any truth to the rumor, but if there is, it looks like a crappy list to me.

The Steam sale will likely start on Thursday. Those games listed are just for indie game bundle and not the main games going on sale. Likewise there's a bunch of bundles in the database but there be the usual stand alone titles as well. Since the stand alone traditional games are already in the database, there's nothing new there to track. The bundles are technically new (in that the entry for the bundle is new) so those are showing up in the database tracker and getting everyone all excited that they must be the sale.

Green Man Gaming is giving away Hacker: Evolution today. Expect the site to run very slow because, hey, free stuff and everyone wants their piece. I'd recommend just slogging through the "purchase" and saving the actual download for another day.

With the game you get a voucher code for 20% off anything on the site. Stacks with sale prices, does not stack with other vouchers/special offers.

Battlefield 3 retail (non-digital) is on amazon for $20. I know physical copies are out of the scope of this thread, but it's the best deal I've seen on it and well worth it so I thought I'd mention it.

Defense Grid: The Awakening is the daily sale on steam for $2.50 or $4 with all DLC. Also recommended.

Sniper Elite V2 is $14.99 (70% off) at Amazon. Sale just started and trying to buy it is taking a while for the servers to behave under the customer load.

Green Man Gaming is giving away another game, this time Hacker Evolution Untold. Like the Hacker Evolution give-away, "buying" this game also gets you an additional 20% off voucher for a single purchase in the month of July. GMG is starting a "Winter sale" in the next day or so so you may have the chance to stack your voucher on top of a good sale price.

Impulse is selling 500 copies of Fall of the Samurai for $9.99 each tomorrow in a flash sale starting at noon central time. You're really buying a Steam activated code; you don't need to download the game from Impulse. They also have some assorted other daily sales -- today is the Majesty franchise for 75% off.

Another free game (and a free 20% discount voucher) from GMG. This time it's UFO Aftermath. I almost never actually play these games (but maybe you'll love 'em) but grab them for the coupons and potential trade-in credit. Past free games have been redeemable for $2 or $3 of credit at later dates.
