Yeah, I think it has. When she was a teenager, girls kept making friends with her as an excuse to get to her brother. Once Sven was done with them, they were done with Dora. End result is, she's always questioning the motives of people who are close to her, because she has a history of people pretending to like her for ulterior reasons.

I suspect that's why Emo Poet has the silly mustache now, since he and Angus (and Sven, for that matter) tend to look alike.

I'm rather shocked that her main is MariGoldfarm...
That's not a main name for a serious player...that's an alt name at best. (On the other hand, they are SO going to hook up. Nerdragelove, FTW.) |

Also, it's not certain that Jeph is a WoW player. He might know enough to make Marigold convincing, but there could still be slipups like that. Last edited by Bosstone; 06-04-2010 at 10:50 AM. |

No, it says that she's a gold farmer, not a serious player - which is the exact opposite of what it should be saying about her.

No, it doesn't. It's just a convenient name that plays on her real-life name.
Yes - gold farmer characters might be more apt to use a name like that. Yes, non-gold farmers would be less apt. But there's no reason to be absolute about it. We've seen her play - we know she's not a gold farmer. |

Which is my point, exactly - she's a serious, raid-focussed player.
Therefor, her main would not be named like a gold-farming alt. |

You're reading way too much into her name. It's a joke. Lot's of players, even hard core players, have joke names. Even on their main characters.

Bingo. It's just a joke people - written by a confessed non-WoW player. Reading too much into it is the same as trying to explain a joke - it just manages to ruin the fun.

Since Angus got punched off-camera, I'll make up what happened:
After Faye and Hanners brought baked goods, Angus asked for a donut. So he got a Hertz donut from Faye. |

Well, we usually don't see a pair of men used as a punching bag in adjacent strips. So it has escalated somewhat. And Faye was supposedly getting better and not doing this, but now both her and Dora battering their men.

I don't understand people getting worked up over the punching. The consequences of a boyfriend telling their girlfriend "they look fat in that skirt" - even as a joke - would result in a heated diatribe of anger/perturbation. Who wants to read 4 paragraphs of anger in a comic strip, when a light "you deserved that" jab in the arm expresses the exact same thing? This isn't domestic abuse - it's "show them, don't tell them" storytelling.

I'm not worked up about it, I can see it's in service of a punchline. It's more of a "wtf, Jeph?" thing for me -- Faye is supposedly getting over some of her issues and less prickly than before, she's trying really hard to be okay with getting closer to Angus. And then she up and punches the guy on this "playdate" she arranged specifically to hang out with him. It just doesn't add up.
Anyway, this really isn't a big deal to me, and I'll sleep fine tonight and the strip will proceed and I'll keep reading it, it's a good strip. I just think the punching was a bit much, but what the hell. |

Apparently the artist got a fan spanking for a particularly gratuitous scene and changed it.
I thought the Friday comic was a bit exploitative of poor little Sweet-tits getting firecrackers shot out of her ass crack by Yelling Bird, but some people really didn't like it so he changed it mid-stream to the reverse. . I've never seen him do that before. |

Yeah the original was stupid. The new one is slightly funnier I guess. I'm not offended by it or anything, just didn't care for it much.

The new strip isn't funny at all. The original was just more of the ritualized abuse the Sweet tits character takes off yelling bird. It was just weird to see him using her a receptacle while verbally abusing her. I think he (the artist) got yelled at for going too far and this is his deliberately lame "Well pardon me!" retort.

When the hell did Marigold have time to find a guy to smooch at that party, much less get felt up? The only "new" eligible guy she met was Dale (pizza dude/NElf rogue) and and the tension in the room was for PvPing each other. The rest of the time she's shocked about Angus and Faye, and then laughing at their predicament. Are we going to get a flashback scene tomorrow where she and Dale started talking nerdy to each other and she experiences the love that dare not speak its name (Horde-Alliance crossover)?

She's talking about when she kissed Angus. Although the boob touching wasn't really his idea.
I love Hanners and Momo's faces in the last panel...their differing reactions (despite the same 'OOOOH!') are fun. |

Ah yeah, I assumed for some reason that she was talking about the events of party since they were talking about her Angus+Faye discovery there, but that's true, she had the (alcohol-fueled) courage to kiss a guy.
