Mnenomic Assistance please.
I need to memorize a color chart:
White Cream Yellow Peach Coral Salmon Orange Red Burgundy Pink Fushia Burgundy Lilac Lavender Purple Teal Blue Aqua Green Olive Beige Brown Gray Black W C Y P C S O R B p F L L P T B A G O B B G B Before any of the color-snobbist get their underhosen in a bunch about this chart and how out of whack it is, it is the official color chart of the MegaColossal UberCharity Thriftstore I work at ( at least the Michigan Stores. Someone hire up was either bored, deprived of a box of 64 crayola crayons when they were young or overmanaging and decided to overcomplicate the previous color chart, which I memorized in about 10 minutes, because it.made.sense. ) 23 colors. Break it down any which way. Myself and my staff thank you very mucho. |

I have to say, I find that a little intimidating. Confronted with a list like that, and depending on circumstances, I might try to find some way of organizing the information that would allow me to bypass trying to formulate and memorize a mnemonic at all.
Can you share with us how these colors are to be used? And when you say "Break it down any which way" does this imply that the order the colors are placed in is not relevant? Sorry to not be more helpful in the first response. Maybe you could try "23 k of g in a f p d." Last edited by kaylasdad99; 04-27-2010 at 08:37 AM. |

1. ROY G. BIV; Black and White makes Gray, duh.
2. Oh wait, except instead of Violet, you've got to give Purple and Pink for Miss. Lavender. 3. As for Mrs. Fushia and Mr. Beige the foodies, they'll enjoy a dish of Salmon and Olives, with a nice Burgundy Wine, with Peaches and Cream for dessert. 4. Mr. Brown wonders, "What needs Water aka Aqua? Lilacs, and Teal Coral right?" It's not so bad, and most of it makes sense except for Mr. Beige. I had a hard time with him. I'm going to assume that the second Burgundy is an error, because it doesn't seem to fit with the "flow" of colors. That said, would it help to break it into color groups?
WHITE/OFF-WHITES White Cream Yellow ORANGES (notice that there are two fruits enclosing two "sea" names) Peach Coral Salmon Orange REDS (think wine) Red Burgundy Pink (champagne) PURPLES Fushia Lilac Lavender Purple BLUE/GREEN Teal Blue Aqua Green Olive (think of green olives?) EARTH TONES (basically light to dark) Beige Brown Gray Black I dunno, could be a place to start. |

Not a mnemonic, but have you considered tattooing them to the inside of your forearm?

Schoolyard cadence is your best shot, IMO:
Willy Chilly you popped Chuck silly, Only red boys pick fall lillies. Loudly praise the boys and girls, Only bamboo boats got burls. |
