Most evil chain restaurant?

Could be sit down, fast food, or delivery.

After much consideration, I shall fervently vote for Olive Garden. It is to real, honest Italian cuisine what Velveeta is to cheese.

I eliminated some choices because I’ve never eaten at them. I eliminated others because it’s a type of food I’m not that fond of anyway and I can’t blame the restaurant for that. And I only judged the choices on their food and service not on bigger issues like their supposed ideological views.

My choice was Domino’s. Because I love pizza but I don’t like their pizza.

I will go with the Olive Garden as well.

But the most evil, most perverted chain restaurant ever was Chi Chi’s. Its an abortion that they every tried to pass this off as Mexican food. But what’s worse?

When I moved to this area, there wasn’t a Mexican joint anywhere to be found. Hell I was five miles from a Taco Bell. So yeah, from time to time, I ate at Chi Chis. I was jonesing for Mexican and I ate at a fucking Chi Chis.

Thank God that nightmare is over. Maybe one day, I can rid myself of the shame.

Sad to say, but in my callow youth, Chi Chi’s was my favorite restaurant, period. Of course, also at that time, in my opinion, no greater steak could be had than those served at the likes of York Steakhouse and Bonanza.

Yes. It’s pretty goddamn amazing how the years can refine one’s palate.

O Charleys. Their menu makes the food sound so good, when it is in fact so very, very bland.

Heh, I worked at a Chi-Chi’s for almost 4 years in college. Nothing but fond memories! I actually like Olive Garden too, I love their Apricot Chicken (which is tasty and diet friendly).

People went to Chi Chi’s to eat? :smack:

My vote is for Olive Garden just because I know two separate people (one of them my husband) who found a foreign object in their food there and were then accused of having planted it there to get free food. These events happened in two separate restaurants in two different states so I can only surmise that Olive Garden corporate policy is to throw random bits of debris into people’s salads and then accuse them of planting it there themselves. Odd business model, if you ask me.

Hey, CiCi’s is awesome. (Not to be confused with the Chi Chi’s of which people speak.)

Voted Olive Garden too. I can get better food at Soupersalad.

I’ll have to go with Rotten Ronnie’s, for tons of reasons, but namely because:

  1. They mass produced the hamburger to the point that what they serve in no way is representative of the real thing.

  2. Very early on, they set their sights on marketing to kids. Those kids have now grown up; many of them are obese. Their own kids are likely obese, and in some cases those kids have kids of their own that are likely obese or soon will be because of the way McDonald’s markets convenience.

  3. Not content with “fast food” they geared toward “instant food” with all the further drop in quality that that would entail…and more possibilities of food poisoning.

  4. They pay shit for wages, and exploit teenagers.

  5. McDonald’s play areas cause children to confuse the idea of eating out with that of playing; the net result is that a lot of kids don’t know how to behave in restaurants that don’t have play areas.

  6. A lot of Happy Meal toys are probably made by Chinese child labor.

  7. Their growth has been emulated by many other chains, most of which have the same low-quality food.
I’m sure many of you have other reasons.

What’s the problem with Steak and Shake? It might be a bit expensive, but to me it’s definitely worth it. I have run into other people who detest Steak and Shake, but I never was able to glean from them what was so wrong about it.

I went with Applebee’s purely because their ads make me want to not go there.

Lots of good choices on your list. CiCi’s narrowly beats out KFC and Applebee’s.

Of course, White Castle is the worst one of all. Odd that it’s on the other poll.

I vote for Applebees. The food is basically TV dinner quality, and it’s really expensive.

I think it really, really depends on the time of day and the amount of alcohol consumed. Sometimes, its the best…until the next morning*, of course.
*I really should say “later that morning” or “early the next afternoon”

There is an excellent website called www.roadfood.com. Most of the discussions are about different restaurants.

I have never eaten at P.F. Changs for instance, but cannot understand why anyone would go there, when there are more authentic Chinese restaurants anywhere. Same with Mexican food. Why go to On the Border when I can have real Mexican food made by real Mexicans. Why go to Olive Garden or Macaroni Grille when there is “real” Italian food out there? Makes no sense.

Most of these restaurants are owned by corporations. I have worked in restaurants as a waiter and know and understand that working in a restaurant is very stressful, hard work. Most of the employees make minimum wage. The managers do OK financially, but many have to work 6 day weeks. The non management jobs are seen as “dead end” positions with no chances of advancement. The stress, piss poor money, having to deal with the general public, the hard work, repetitiveness and the general having to do this shit everyday takes its toll.

I used to live in Jackson, Mississippi (I live in Asia now) back in the late 1990’s. Now Jackson is not exactly what you call the cultural center of the Universe, but in Jackson were several authentic Chinese restaurants, Mexican restaurants, even a place owned by a family from Nicaragua. Of course, people from bigger cities have a lot more choices.

Lastly, I like “The Office”. One epsisode, Michael Scott, the boss was in New York for a meeting or something and was in the street stating that this place had the best New York pizza in town and everytime he comes to NYC he goes there. Then the camera pans to a Sbarro with me laughing my head off. But that is how most Americans think. Sbarro is fast and I know what I am going to get.

Actually, most Americans do not think that Sbarro is authentic New York pizza. Also, Michael Scott on “The Office” is not representative of most Americans. I hope this information is useful to you.

I picked Denny’s. I haven’t eaten there in years, basically because the last two times I at ethere, the meat was rancid.

McDonald’s. Because they killed Roy Rogers.

I’ve never eaten at an Olive Garden, but I have eaten at a couple Macaroni Grills. The food is edible but nothing special; I wouldn’t call them evil, just another example of catering to the sheep.

The most evil, in my opinion, is Mickey D’s. That organization represents the fattening of America.

I don’t like most of them. A cheap date I am not. But I was the 1st to pick Golden Corral. “You can eat all you want”. “But the food is bland and shitty”. “Sure, but you can eat all you want”.
