Q: How do you take your coffee?

My standard coffee at home was Folgers with Skim-plus milk and 2 blue packets, but I've recently decided that when my supply of blue gives out, I'm swtching to Splenda's yellow packets.

Sure, thats a pretty tame & boring revelation, but it makes me wonder:

Q: How do you take your coffee?

At home & at work: French press, black, no sugar.

Out: 50/50 between espresso and cortado.

I take it black - like my men

Oh, and the morning routine involves four shots espresso with 7oz hot water.

I was perturbed this morning when I discovered that our lab manager failed to replenish the Sumatra blend (Peet's Brand) that I have become habituated to. The alternative is something disgusting called Major Dick or something like that. When I conveyed my disappointment, she mistook my request and prepared a new pot of coffee. Unfortunately, it was of the aforementioned execrable variety and therefore unpalatable.

In answer to your question, however, I take my coffee orally.
I prefer it unadulterated by any admixtures of other chemicals.

Coffee is one of my triggers, even decaf. I can manage an occasional cup or two, but every time I think that I can go back to drinking coffee on a daily basis, my innards let me know that they are unhappy. Very unhappy.

So I drink tea in the morning, with lots of sweetener and a little sugar, and with cream in it. Yes, cream. I know that one is supposed to put skim milk in tea, but I prefer cream. The type of tea varies, but it's usually one of Bigelow's varieties.

I take mine very strong with a bit of heavy cream, but unsweetened. I used to like it with sugar as well but weaned myself from that and now sweetened coffee tastes a bit nasty.

Strong, a dash of milk, no sugar. Similar strength to what they call a cortado in some places, but without the steamed milk.

Black and bitter, like my heart.

Seriously, black and in large quantities. If I want sugar and milk in something coffee-flavored, I'll head to Arby's for a jamocha shake!

"Al Dente", according to my old roommates. ;-) I think it comes from being an Army brat, I drink it really quite extremely strong. And plain, nothing in it please.

I do not, however, like dark roasted coffees. I like a medium or medium-dark roast, with lots of chocolate and/or caramel notes. To my taste, most of the Starbucks beans are just burnt.

With milk and 1.5 teaspoons of sugar.*

My masculinity is not dependent on drinking my coffee "black". I like milk and sugar - why shouldn't I have some in my coffee?

* Unless I'm drinking Turkish coffee, in which case no milk, lots of sugar, and cardamon.

Around here, all I have to say is "double double", and they know what I mean (though I suspect I should explain for the rest of you - two creams, two sugars).

I guess this is as good a place as any to repeat something I find insane - when I ask for my coffee black, and they ask "would you like sugar?" Hell no, I just told you I wouldn't. Black coffee is, by definition, unadulterated.

Hmm - maybe I'm sufficiently caffeinated for this morning...

Seconded, though with the caveat that it depends on the type of coffee. If I'm brewing the coffee, it's super strong and a very dark roast with heavy cream, no sugar. If I have to drink office swill, it's black because I can't taste that it's coffee otherwise (it's very weak) - instead I'll just get the flavor of that nasty powdered creamer they provide here.

Black, unless I'm eating breakfast at a restaurant where the coffee isn't as good as at home. Then I usually add some half&half. Never sugar.

I drink Larry's Beans, either 3 Moon Peru or Woodstock Morning Blend, with one Sweet & Low (pink), two cups/morning. If I run out of S&L, I drink it black. If I'm somewhere with crappy coffee, I'll add cream & real sugar.

Dark coffee, I brew it really strong, and add a little bit of milk and one teaspoon of sugar.

Turkish coffee, I'll take without sugar. 1 teaspoon of coffee, to one tiny cup of water.

It depends on which definition you're using. I use "black coffee" as you do -- to mean unadulterated coffee. However, I have come across another definition: simply coffee without dairy, which may or may not have sugar in it. It seems to me that both are acceptable.

Me too. Cream (or liquid Coffeemate) and sugar when I decide to risk it. Seattle's Best or Peet's -- a friend in Washington sends me Peet's. Gevalia has some decent flavored coffee -- Pumpkin Spice is a good one.

Just the one sugar, and the milk has got to be mixed in with the coffee( Yes, I drink the instant crap!) before the hot, but not boiling water is poured in.

Locally roasted, home ground, drip made, a bit of half&half and a bit of Splenda. I really prefer cold-brewed, but we've gotten lazy in the last few months.

I am not a big coffee drinker, but when I do have some it's usually because some got spilled and mixed in with my cup of sugar that I was about to enjoy.

My preferences is for strong, black, no sugar most of the time, but I'll drink it any way it comes (that is, if someone puts milk or sugar in, I'll drink it rather than letting them make it again)

I like a latte at lunchtime occasionally.

I like my coffee like I like my women: covered in bees.

As for the OP, how the hell should we know? Why don't you ask Q yourself.

Orally.

As long as it's hot, I'll drink it any which way -- caff/no caff, with or without cream and/or sugar, Starbucks or vending machine. But I like it best with a flavored creamer, hazelnut or italian sweet cream or some such.

Black. Strong.

I do make an exception for the coffee at work. It comes there in shitty little packets with an insulting brand name: "Superior Coffee". It's anything but. Hell, it's prison grade. They must cut it with sawdust. Sawdust that has been used to absorb oil spills in a garage. A dirty garage. That shit is foul. I'll usually toss in a packet of Equal just to be able to get it down.

It's bad enough that I keep a jar of generic instant coffee at my desk and use that most of the time. I'm a coffee snob, and the instant is shit, but it's a full order of magnitude better than the crap they stock in the breakroom at work.

But at any decent coffee shop I really enjoy the taste of well-brewed coffee. That I always take black.
