2. When This Cruel War is Over (Civil War)
3. "The Ride of the Valkyries"

Used in Birth of a Nation, Apocalypse Now, and the Vietnam scenes of Watchmen. And in a case of truth in television, there actually were German units in WWII that blasted Wagner over loudspeakers as they attacked.

4. "Paint it black"/Rolling Stones

Thanks to this article I was able to confirm that it is at least topical for the list. I knew it had been used in the Tour of Duty TV show but wasn't sure if my recollection of Full Metal Jacket was correct. Also gobsmacked that the Stones lost the rights to it many years ago.

A funny thing about this one is it doesn't matter where the WW2 is set: it was playing in a Nazi office in X Men 2, it was the only record that survived a village's destruction in Saving Private Ryan, it played in Italy in a scene of the miniseries War and Remembrance; I wouldn't be surprised if it's made its way into some War in the Pacific movies.

Way too late at this point, but in the Billy Joel song list I'd already posted "Uptown Girl" in post 5767. Please be careful to check that somebody hasn't beaten you to a number before you submit, and edit accordingly!
