Free Music by My Favorite Artist, Sarah Fimm

Sarah Fimm is a singer/songwriter living near Woodstock, NY. Her music is mostly piano based and is influenced by rock and trip-hop with world, ethnic, and electronic influences. She is my most favorite musician, and I sing her praises in most every music thread I post to on these boards, so when she recently launched what she is calling the Karma Phala Music Project, I asked the mods if I could post about it here, and I’ve been kindly allowed.

What initially started as thumb drives of assorted media sent out to her most devoted fans, has now become a full fledged effort to get her music out into the world. She has asked everyone that has received a drive to share her music, free of charge, and has also uploaded a zip to Yousendit for even easier access. Included on the drive (or zip) are 31 tracks (including a couple songs from her first six albums, as well as her upcoming seventh album and 14 unreleased songs), photography, artwork, and a personal message from her to anyone that downloads it.

She’s a wonderful musician and based on my interactions with her at the one concert I’ve been to, plus our periodic communication on Facebook, as wonderful a person. I hope some of you download this and become fans as well:

I think the correct link is this

I’ll let you know what I think after the download (527MB!) finishes.

Fantastic!

Sarah is indeed wonderful, and deserves the attention.

I wonder if she was inspired by Happy. I know she’s a fan, based on the fact that she still has HTR on her front page on MySpace. Since the mid-'90’s, Happy’s allowed much of her music to be downloaded, then several years ago Happy allowed all of her music (all 11 albums) to be put on the web as streaming audio, then a couple of years ago, all of her music was made available on YouTube, as individual audio-only tracks that can be shared as links or as album playlists.

If Happy was the inspiration behind this, better luck to Sarah. I don’t know that all this free music has done Hap any good, people will listen or not, whether it’s free or not, but it’s there, waiting to be discovered, and maybe Sarah was inspired by that. Let’s definitely hope Sarah is NOT inspired to go live on a farm and not make music anymore!

Thanks for posting.

Thanks, jackdavinci. I flagged a mod to fix that. I hope at least one Doper finds something they like and will continue to share the link or the files.

Should be good to go now.
