I lurk much more than I post, but I always enjoyed norinew's posts. I am a stranger , but hers was a familiar name to me.

I pass through Cumberland, MD occasionally, and always have thought to myself "there is a Doper who lives here!", but sadly will need to change those thoughts to the past tense now.

I'm so sorry to hear about this. She made me laugh quite a few times. Her sense of humour really came through.

My condolences to her family.

Far too young and way too sudden. Rest in peace, norinew.

Coming in late, as usual, but my sincere condolences as well. What a horrible shock!

I've been away for a couple of weeks and am just catching up. I saw the thread title and felt like I'd been punched in the stomach.

I am so very sorry. Norinew was a fantastic person and the world, and this board, is lessened by her absence.

I know the feeling, Kolga. Norine was also a follower of my blog, and when I read the news, I just sat here and cried. She was a totally sweet person and I will miss her very much (as do you all).

Has anyone been in touch with her family since the funeral? I hope they are doing as well as can be expected under the circumstances and that if they feel up to it they will let us know how they are.
I had no idea that norinew was ill at all until this thread. Does anyone know if an explanation was ever given from the doctors about how this happened?

My condolences to her family and friends - Norine was a real gem on this board, and I imagine in the rest of her life as well. Her wit, charm, gracious humour and understanding made this board and the world a brighter place. She will be missed.

Regards

I want to add my name to those expressing their condolances to the family of norinew.
Hers is one of the first names I started looking for when I first discovered the boards. She always seemed a class act and fine woman.

I just found this, and like some others, I feel like I've been punched in the chest. Norine was a friend I never met, and the Board (and the world) is a lesser place now. She set an example of grace and humor and strength that I hope to remember and emulate.

I had no idea this had happened until now.

My heartfelt condolances to her family and all who knew her.

In an impersonal place such as an internet message board norinew radiated kindness and decentcy far beyond the norm, and always gave me hope. I'm so sorry.

She had been sick and in a lot of pain for some time. I assume - but don't know for certain - that her passing and her being sick were connected.

I used her email address to email the family but never heard anything back. They may not have checked her email yet or they may be grieving, I don't know.

At random points during the week I'll think "hey, I bet Norine would think this recipe is....." before remembering the unfair truth.

They may not have her email password. Try checking with EtherealFreakOfPinkness or ThreadPirateRoberts, her two daughters who post on the board.

I never know what to say in threads like this. But I feel like I have to say something, because norinew was one of those Doper's I felt I "knew".

Bye, norinew! You will be missed!

I don't know how I missed this announcement. I read about norinew's passing in the sticky thread about Dopers who passed away and I thought: "Oh no, norinew!" She will be missed greatly. My condoleances to her family members, most of which I feel I know well because of the loving way she wrote about them.

Darn. The Dope will just be a little more empty without norinew.
