Tip a mobile auto glass installer?

The insurance company sent a mobile glass installer to my workplace to install a new windshield in my personal car. I gave my credit card info over the phone when I made the appointment and just signed the paperwork when he was done. He was long gone by the time it ever occured to me that someone in that job could possibly expect a tip. Wouldn't have mattered, I didn't have any cash on me anyway and I'm thinking he probably makes as much or more than me anyway so I'm thinking "non-tip eligible". He did a great job, quickly and was very proffessional, BTW.

What's the Dope say?

Usually no. I was a service tech for BellSouth and I never expected a tip for work done. I was offered occasionally a tip, usually from older people, but I always declined. I did however accept fresh baked cookies!
If the installer does an excellent job and is polite and proffesional then an offer of a tip would be up to the individual customer. I don't think that it should be expected.

I don't think it's by any means necessary but would tip them if I interacted with them.

Not too long ago I had my windshield replaced and my intent was to tip the guy. He showed up while I was upstairs and I never heard him come in, when I noticed what time it was, I looked at my truck and the windshield had already been replaced and he was long gone.

Maybe next time I'll leave an envelope with money in it, but it's not like window replacements are a common occurrence for me could be years before it comes up again.
