Need title for movie about interracial romance

This movie is set in New York City during the 60's. It's about an Italian boy and a Black girl who live in different neighborhoods. There is a scene where the couple is getting into a car. The boy opens the door for the girl then goes around to get in the other side of the car. The girl reaches over to unlock the door for the boy, and he's so excited that she does that, because it shows she is considerate and she cares about him. He says something like "I knew you were a good one".
This is driving me crazy!

The star of this film, Lillo Brancato, was later arrested and jailed for his involvement in a botched robbery in which a police officer was shot to death. I think he is now up for parole.

Wasn’t that DeNiro’s directorial debut?

The first part centered on the local mob boss isn’t bad. The movie takes a turn toward the not-so-interesting when it gets into the inter-racial dating thing. Nice use of the Beatles’ Come Together though.

I’d give it a C+.

When we were first dating, I used the door test on my wife.

She passed.

For a movie that really wasn't very good overall, there were a couple of useful lessons one could learn from the film. I posted the following A Bronx Tale related anecdote in a thread about going to great lengths to avoid irritating people.

At my old place I had a roommate. My roommate had a really annoying friend. He was always making up stupid stories and saying ignorant shit. I once loaned him 20 dollars because I knew he was such a pathetic jerk that he would try to dodge me rather than pay me back in a timely fashion. I didn't see him for months. He eventually turned up, and when I brought it up he actually did pay me pack. But even if he hadn't, it would have been well worth the money to have him avoid me.

I stole the idea from the movie "A Bronx Tale," which I can't really recommend as a movie, but the strategy worked out pretty well.

Good thing you didn't start with the Mario Test.
