The whole birther issue that according to the rules in place at the time of Obama’s birth(these rules have since been changed) his USA citizen mother was not old enough to have spent enough time inside the USA to pass on her citizenship to her son, if he was indeed born outside the USA.
This got me to wondering just how strict they are with the rules which seem more like a guideline, they do say the embassy employee you deal with has the final say rules or not on granting the CRBA. By the USA state department’s own admission the rules are to prevent generations of USA citizens who have never set foot in the USA, and I assume not to force a USA citizen mother to try to immigrate to Kenya to be with her own child.
And since I have never seen a single media story about US citizen mothers “trapped” in some country they happened to be in when their water broke I am assuming the embassy employee’s look at the totality of the circumstances and do not robotically apply the rules.
So assume a woman born in the USA and who lived there her whole life gives birth in Kenya or where ever, but oops she is just one year away from reaching the requirement so no USA citizenship for your child. Enjoy your new life in Kenya!:dubious:
