How Many Kindles on One Account?

My wife and I both have a kindle on the same account. As a result, we can read each others' books. Can I get a Kindle for my brother on the same account? One of my main problems with Kindle is that I can't share books with my brother without giving him the Kindle. Does Amazon have any problems with this kind of arrangement? And how many Kindles can share the same account? I can't seem to find any information about this from Amazon.

So far I have 6 on mine, from buying them for me, wife and all the in-laws...

I chatted with an Amazon rep, on the website, he said up to six. Maybe you can do more. They didn't seem to have a problem with it.

There's no limit to the number of Kindles that can be registered to one account. However, I think most books have a limit to how many devices they can be on at once - usually 5 or 6.

Lots of discussions about it here.

Everyone has given you good information here about registering multiple Kindles. There is another option for sharing books if you are in the US and the publisher has enabled the feature, you can loan a Kindle book to another person for a 2 week period.

There is no maximum registered Kindle device/application per account.

-- snip --

There is no limit on the number of times Kindle content can be downloaded to a registered device, but there may be limits on the number of devices (usually six) that can simultaneously have a single book or Kindle active content title.

SOME books you can lend ONCE for 2 weeks. After that, you can no longer lend them.

In my experience, very few books are lendable to begin with. Maybe 25% of the ones I've purchased.

I'm on my sister's account. It's excellent -- she no longer has to wait a year for me to read books she recommends (until the library gets them and I get around to checking them out).

I believe I can buy books from her account on my kindle without asking her permission, though. (I always do, of course!) So you'll have to make sure you trust whoever is on your account with making kindle purchases...
