I'm not huge on the whole "gun fetishist" line of argument that gets taken in gun control threads, but I really do think it applies to Mr. Nugent. He really does seem to get off on holding weapons, talking about weapons, etc. He always seems to be waving them around or bragging about how he would use them. Worth noting that when he gets all chest thumpy about his guns, it never seems to be about defending his family or stopping criminals. Tends to be more along the lines of Yosemite Sam.

Quite possibly he was implying that in his second term Obama would establish a Stalinist state and round up all the counter-revolutionaries, meaning that Nugent would end up in an internment camp where he would eventually be executed. A lot of people have this narcissistic fantasy about being a bold enemy of oppression who dies gloriously for the cause.

There was no explicit, and probably no implicit, threat in Nugent's words, but someone definitely needs to take him aside and tell him to calm a down a bit. He certainly seems to be suffering from a bad case of Celebrity Bubble Syndrome.

Yeah, I think his other comments are much more readily interpreted as a direct physical threat to the president (or, at the least, Democrats in general). As I noted upthread, I have a very low opinion of Ted Nugent and I wish he would go away. Further, I will note that Obama has done nothing at all WRT to gun regulations. However, the paranoia over potential unilateral anti-gun activity by a POTUS is not entirely without basis.
As the head of the executive branch, he can issue executive orders that pro-gun people will find odious and for which there is no recourse. Other presidents have done so. He can ban importation of guns and/or ammunition from foreign nations. It is because of such an order that Chinese guns, save for a couple of shotguns, are no longer sold in the US though they are freely bought and sold in Canada. He can order the BATFE to interpret regulations in the strictest possible way; this becomes important when you consider that the BATFE can restrict firearms based on whether or not they have a "sporting purpose" and they are the ones who get to decide what a "sporting purpose" is. Under his orders they can, through licensing regs, reduce the number of retail outlets for firearms.
I am not saying he would do any of these things, simply that they have been done by previous presidents.

Well, I owned a couple Chinese-made guns and was not overwhelmed by their quality. It was largely a non-issue to me when they were banned from importation. The most I can say for them was that they were inexpensive and could be used as the basis for a project gun. OTOH, there are some very interesting, good quality guns from Israel, Australia, and several other countries that were similarly banned. The arbitrariness of how these decisions are made boggles the mind. I can't buy a Tavor or a Gailil frm Israel or a Dragunov from Russia, but I could buy (if I wanted them which I don't) stacks of indifferently made AK-clones from Romania. It is this very arbitrariness that irritates a fellow.
