You guys are totally misreading this whole thing. This was just Ted's poorly worded expression of the great admiration he holds for Joe Biden.

And, of course, no one who is "off his rocker" has ever engaged in a politicized act of violence. No, the ones who are "off [their] rocker" are totally fine and no one should worry about them.

I'm surprised his previous threats against Obama and Hillary Clinton didn't result in charges against him. They were much more explicit than this.

I'm not huge on the whole "gun fetishist" line of argument that gets taken in gun control threads, but I really do think it applies to Mr. Nugent. He really does seem to get off on holding weapons, talking about weapons, etc. He always seems to be waving them around or bragging about how he would use them. Worth noting that when he gets all chest thumpy about his guns, it never seems to be about defending his family or stopping criminals. Tends to be more along the lines of Yosemite Sam.
Ah well. I'm sure all that hyper masculine bluster is a way to protect his creamy nougat center. |

Clearly, once Obama secures a second term, he is going to unleash his true Kenyan Muslim Socialist Agenda™ and ban all firearms. At which point, Mr. Nugent will be at the top of the ATF list, and he will either be arrested, or gunned down in a blaze of glory defending his (and our) constitutional rights.

Hmm, so the serial pedophile and draft dodging braggart is trash talking. I doubt he'll go to jail but I hope they put the scare into him. Might be nice to not have this squicky subhuman as a primary spokesman for gun rights (I speak as a gun owner).

Nugent is a douche, but having seen the video, I don't see a threat.
It could be he means "I will kill Obama;" it could just as easily be "I will be killed or jailed by the evil Obama regime." Given the context of his rant (Against Supreme Court rulings), and given that "if ____ is elected, they will cruelly oppress us" rhetoric is pretty standard from both sides, I default to the latter. I think it could also mean that Nugent fears that a 2nd Obama term means that the evil government will kill or jail him, and that it's not a death threat. What I can't figure out is if that is more stupid or less stupid than a veiled threat.
Does he think they are going to round up all non-Democrats into concentration camps? Gun owners? Or what? Either way, the man's a pure imbecile. |

Doesn't this whole thing kind of make Ted look like a wuss? I mean if he feels that Barack Obama is such a threat to America, why has he waited so long? Shouldn't he have done whatever it is he's hinting he might do back in 2009?
John Wayne wouldn't have said, "Okay, you stole half my herd of cattle. But I'm warning you. If you come back and steal the rest of them, I'll get mad and I might do something to you." |

Cuz you know Obama has spent his whole first term going after gun owners. ![]() The mentality baffles me. Even IF Obama went after guns in his second term he'd need to get past congress and, perhaps, the Supreme Court. Both of which are substantial hurdles. And even IF he could do all that it'd take months to years to sort out. Obama cannot wake up one morning and declare guns are illegal and *POOF* it happens. There'd be lots of time to see the train coming and do something about it. Rationality seems to be in short supply for a lot of these people. |

To even us supporters of gun rights, is it still in doubt that the NRA isn't in the gun-Rights business, rather than the Keeping the NRA In Business business?
In all organizations like this, membership falls into two catagories: Cynical Opportunist and Useful Idiot. Guess into which one Ted Nugent fits? |

As the head of the executive branch, he can issue executive orders that pro-gun people will find odious and for which there is no recourse. Other presidents have done so. He can ban importation of guns and/or ammunition from foreign nations. It is because of such an order that Chinese guns, save for a couple of shotguns, are no longer sold in the US though they are freely bought and sold in Canada. He can order the BATFE to interpret regulations in the strictest possible way; this becomes important when you consider that the BATFE can restrict firearms based on whether or not they have a "sporting purpose" and they are the ones who get to decide what a "sporting purpose" is. Under his orders they can, through licensing regs, reduce the number of retail outlets for firearms. I am not saying he would do any of these things, simply that they have been done by previous presidents. |

Just to add to the wonder that is Ted Nugent, a few years back when he opened for some other band, he went off on a tirade about the local sheriffs office and was saying we should all go down there together and...do something, I don't remember if he said shoot them or just implied violence of some sort.
I didn't know he was a nutjob before that, and at the time I thought he was just trying to get crowd approval in some inappropriate way. |

Well, I owned a couple Chinese-made guns and was not overwhelmed by their quality. It was largely a non-issue to me when they were banned from importation. The most I can say for them was that they were inexpensive and could be used as the basis for a project gun. OTOH, there are some very interesting, good quality guns from Israel, Australia, and several other countries that were similarly banned. The arbitrariness of how these decisions are made boggles the mind. I can't buy a Tavor or a Gailil frm Israel or a Dragunov from Russia, but I could buy (if I wanted them which I don't) stacks of indifferently made AK-clones from Romania. It is this very arbitrariness that irritates a fellow.
