I need a simple glyph to bind evil
It is pretty much a factual request...
I need a straightforward and hopefully easily reproduced sign, seal, glyph, talisman, veve, hex sign, or possibly sigil to bind a dark force and keep it the hell out of one's face. I cannot believe, with all my books both analog and digital, and with the entire intarwebs at my feet, that I can't find one; my google-fu must be, er .. at a low ebb. Uh, need answer fast. Y'know. Cause of the evil and stuff. |

How 'bout an Elder Sign?

Can't go wrong with a good, old-time Seal of Solomon.

Ah! Excellent suggestions all three; the Seal of Solomon is probably most like what I had in mind, because the dark force in question is far too annoying to be connected with Cthulhu on the one hand, and needs to be contained at the source more than deflected from my person, on the other.
Believe it or not, evil entities, when faced with a strong person who is difficult to attack directly, can become unbelievably petty and passive-aggressive. And there is nothing that will blow your good mood like passive-aggressive evil! Thanks, O erudite brethren and sistren. |

Shouldn't a Seal of Solomon include a six-pointed star?

Khadaji! That's the one I was trying to find! But I only could remember the similar one for "Victory." (Like Bjork's tattoo.)

Apparently not, but I do notice that it includes the command keysymbol from a Mac keyboard.

Tell it it looks funny and has bad fashion sense.

It looks like you need this sign.

The OP asked for a simple glyph.
That Seal of Solomon is pretty damn "busy" -- they could've used a good logo consultant back then.

The evil eye is obviously into bukkake.

Who knew, but you are in search of some apotropaic magic. Follow links to amulets, etc.

But for real evil you need one of these: Solomon's Seal I tried to find a link to the very rare "Walrus of Solomon" but apparently the Illuminati have removed all traces of this. One of its most useful powers is FNORDFNORDFNORD so that may be what you really need. |

Keep it simple, just throw salt around it in a circle.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_circle The wikipedia entry says they're usually around the person to be protected, but I've seen plenty of fictional works and woo-woo demon summoning websites where the demon/spirit/energy/evil is bound in the circle while the summoner stands outside. I have evil bound to control-alt-rightshift so I don't accidentally invoke it when I'm rebooting.

I, of all people, would be lacking if I didn't suggest that all-purpose ancient symbol, used the world over as an apotropeic device, the Gorgoneion:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gorgoneion I put one on the cover of my book, and I can aver that it repels potential book purchasers like nothing else can. After that, Evil oughttta be a piece of cake. |

What if you wanted something to enhance your own evilness? Like boost your dark side so you could become a Sith Lord? would you wear the pentacle or rune upside down?

Is "fascinus" pronounced "FASənəs" or "FASkənəs?" Now that I know that "fascinate" comes from a Latin word meaning "to perform witchcraft with a magical dildo," I may want to bring that up in conversation.

A word of advice: don't use a hooked sun-cross. Either it doesn't work at all, or it surely got burned out binding some major evil a few years back...
