After Snooki called Patricia Krentcil “crazy,” the New Jersey mom fired back by referring to the pregnant meatball as “Snoopy” and saying, “She’s the biggest a**hole in the world. She’s fake, she’s fat, her t*ts are fake, she’s disgusting.”

I love it--it is a perfect storm of pop-culture early-summer idiocy! Somewhere Anna Nicole Smith is smiling. In a week of Chinese dissidents, early election woes, Occupy protests and the usual Middle East crisis, I need my Tan Mom/Snoopy feuds.

Indeed, can you remember any stupider stories? Surely there is a Tan Mom/Snooki/Snoopy moment once a year or so, like an evanescent bubble of TMZ-fueled moronity.

I hope Hilary Clinton is being called back from China to mediate between Tan Mom and Snooki, and that the Obama and Romney camps are both going to weigh in with their opinions.

Also, France is electing a new President, and London a new mayor: doubtless the Tan Mom/Snooki hostilities will have international repercussions.

I can't wait for Tan Mom to peel off her leathery skin to reveal that she's really someone like Jane Wyman or Donna Reed. A nice, normal mother with appropriately-pigmented skin and hair who isn't a skank.

It's "real" in that it's a "reality show," which seems to mean "we cast fame whores and didn't pay script writers."

I haven't watched more than clips here and there, but Snooki gained some admiration from me a while back when she compared her shape and stature to that of a Ewok. And yes, her no-makeup shot showed quite a lovely young woman under all that, but that's not what audiences tune in for.

I've made it a point to never watch Jersey Shore, the Kardashians, or any of the other similar unreality shows. I've managed to almost miss several seasons of Survivor, Dancing with the Stars, American Idle, and America's Got Talent, too. My wife and son like these, so sometimes I HAVE to see something when I walk through the living room. Oh, and I did make it through about 15 minutes of the Ozzie Osborn show once, mostly because I was listening to Ozzie some back when bats were still on his training table menu.

I've come to the opinion now that someone could make a hefty fortune by developing an add-on app for Firefox, IE, smart phones, etc that will filter articles that contain certain key words or phrases, such as "Jersey Shore", "Kardashian", "Lohan", "Paris Hilton", etc. Heck, with a few moments of thought, we could probably come up with 10-20 names or phrases that could come pre-loaded in the app.
