Worst band of the Seventies?

A thread in which we decide once and for all, which is the worst band of the Seventies

About half of the bands listed I know fairly well, and while none of them are or have been favourites of mine, none is “worst of the seventies”, so I cannot play along. :frowning:

Of the choices listed, I don’t own anything by Rush or Jethro Tull, so they’ll have to share my vote. I wouldn’t consider either of them the worst band of the 70s, though.

I like them all too. :frowning:

I voted for ELP, but there are lots of bands that could have been on the list (e.g.: Styx). Also, you didn’t even get into Bo Donaldson And the Heywoods territory, to say nothing of the likes of Starland Vocal Band, etc.

Having survived the simultaneous afflictions of adolescence and the 1970’s, I protest the omission in this poll of the tyranny known as Led Zeppelin.

None of the above.

Bay City Rollers.

I picked Rush because I never got into them. I listen now and they aren’t so bad.

I suspect the OP didn’t live through the Hell that was '70s radio or he wouldn’t have picked so many bands that weren’t The Poppy Family, Hotlegs (though they did evolve into 10cc, a very good band, and the story of their hit is kinda funny and makes the song likable in an ironic way), Ocean, or The Mike Curb Congregation, and that’s off the top of my head and I don’t think it gets me past 1971. It was an awful, awful decade.

Someone hates Prog Rock, this poll is a joke.

I’ll second Bay City Rollers.

No mention of KISS? For shame!!!

None of the above. If forced to choose from the list, then 10cc.

I like most 70s output that I’ve heard from all bands on this list, plus Led Zeppelin, but not including Rolling Stones. That said, they had so many songs that some of them were bound to be good.

Captain and Tennille
Jackson 5
The Osmonds

All are good, but Rush is the least distinguished of the list.

Kiss… for sure. with Grand Funk Railroad coming in second…

None of the bands listed come within a million miles of “the worst band of the seventies.” Of the ones listed, Yes is probably my least favorite, but still much better than many many others.

This poll is defective. Those are all great bands, and several of them are among the very best not just of the '70s, but of the entire history of rock.

What kind of poll is this???

None of them are ‘bad’, I suppose. I wouldn’t turn the station on the radio if any of the songs came on.

Except 10CC. I hate 10CC.

Not fond of Genesis because I don’t like Phil Collins.

This is “The Worst Poll of the SDMB.”

Mods, would you please amend the title of the thread accordingly?
