The idea that it’s newsworthy that we have a surplus in April. Even if income tax is collected throughout the year, April will usually deviate more than other months because we don’t know how the final tax figures will differ from the withholding. So it’s unsurprising that we’re running a surplus in April.

It’s better than no surplus, but why did they have to bait and switch me with the headlines. It’s like a science headline that wrote “SCIENTISTS DISCOVER ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE may be closer than we once thought” Which isn’t to say that I didn’t know it was a come-on immediately, but tell that to my reptilian instant process and ask questions later part of my brain.
