Laptop bags! Help me find an awesome one!

Long story short, I've got a 15-inch MacBook Pro now. I'm looking for a good case for it, but there are a few requirements:

1) It has to protect the MacBook. This one is a no-brainer!

2) It has to be unique in some way. I'm looking for something with serious style. Featureless black isn't what I'm after.

3) It has to have space for extra stuff. Pouches, pockets, stuff like that.

And that's about it! Lay on your laptop case recommendations! Buying it on the internet is preferred, but I'm not against going to a store if that's what the case requires.

(and thanks in advance for your help!)

I like the ones that look like a leather book, or a large envelope (made of Tyvek, not paper). They don't have any pockets though.

Do you want one to put in another bag? Or as a bag by itself? If it's a bag, how will you carry it?

I'm hoping for bag suggestions, I guess! I didn't realize until just now that I use "bag" and "case" interchangeably for this, when I really shouldn't. Thanks for the clarifying question.

I'll ask a mod to change the title, I might get better results that way.

Timbuk2 make excellent messenger bags for laptops, and you can choose a custom design.

You might find something you like here. I have one that unfolds so it can go through the airport X-ray machine without having to unpack the laptop.

Dave, at Saddleback Leather make a bag to be proud of. I have had mine for about three years and it is just starting to turn buttery soft as fine leather ought to be.

Whatever else I think about Macs, I do think they are very stylish, and you, good sir or ma'am, being a person of indeterminate gender and unmatchable class, should settle for nothing that will be any less stylish:

Handcuff this baby to your wrist, and people will know you are going places. With a snazzy aluminum briefcase handcuffed to your wrist! Make sure you've got the key to the handcuffs with you if you plan to go through airport security.

Also, you might want to search for "messenger bags." If you can't find one that you like that comes with a laptop protector (pad), you can usually find one of those separately.

Its not the most stylish by far, but unique? Have you considered Pacsafe?

Unique is definitely the keyword there, so your recommendation is much appreciated. I'm hoping it'll stand out; the bag doesn't need to be traditional-looking.

I just got this one from REI last weekend. It is a monster but I needed one with extra space for some international travel I have coming up. so far I am extremely pleased with it. Nice fit and finish, appears to be very durable. Unfolds flat for airport scanner. Can slide onto luggage handle. Lots of pockets and hidey holes.

Crumpler bags are very popular here, particularly with people who cycle as they stay on and look funky. (Make sure you click on the different links at the top for the different styles, e.g. messenger bag, backpack, sleeve etc).

Do you live near a Microcenter? They have a huge array of choices you can put your hands on and see if the padding feels flimsy or real, which is nice.

That bag looks awesome! It's maybe a bit bigger than I'm looking for, but if I ever upgrade my laptop and need to carry a few more things, I'll keep it in mind!

This is fantastic. I put together a really classy bag, with a Dark Brown left panel, a Khaki middle panel, and a Red Devil right panel. Black trim and a black logo. I was just about convinced that this would be the bag for me, but....

... this one was tempting, too. I'm not sure why all of their product names are plays on how "ugly" the bags are. I think they look pretty nice. Now I'm torn between this and the timbuk2 I put together.

It turns out I do live next to one. I'll have to stop by it and see if I can touch some bags.
