Oh, and my Join Date is October 1999 as you can see at the top right of my post (do Guests see Join Dates?) I was at one of the very first Dopefests in Los Angeles. A lot of changes at the board and in my life since then!

No, there are no URLs shown in the status bar except at the top of the page, and that's the URL for the whole thread. It's okay, though, because I've already figured it out.

Obviously 32 lower numbers, see Lynn's #2.... But they either dropped for a while & came back so they lost the low numbers or they left for good. I have no clue

I lurked a bit before I joined on September 14th, 1999.

I assume a lot of people know more stuff about me than they actually do. Many still aren't aware I am living in Australia unless I mention it, even though I've been here since before I joined the SDMB.

While I joined much later,one of the first things I did when I got my first computer in 2001, or there abouts, was type"The Straight Dope" in the search engine,might have been Lycos or web crawler,I dont remember.

However,I bought the first book,within a week or two after it hit the shelves back in 85 or 86,whenever it was, and still have it.

Yet another '99er here, so 13 years plus. I wasn't on AOL, but I was a big fan of The Straight Dope and I found my way to this board while bored at work. My productivity hasn't been the same since.

I'm always amazed how many of early members are still active here.
