Kate is trying to rip you off - we get our quarter for $3

And it is sooooooooo good.

Or maybe she is selling golden calves?

If this was Kate Upton or Kate Middleton, you guys would be all over her meat.

Wow I can't believe it.

Not since the days of umkay has the SDMB been shaken to its very core by the outing and banning of a beloved member.

I still can't believe that Kate wasn't really interested in getting to know us or possibly even saying "Hello!"

She was so convincing too, from beginning to end.

Regarding banning, I've sent a PM to Colibri.

I know that I am possibly fighting an uphill battle here in the circumstances, but just thought I should mention it here.

I have no criticism of anyone for banning her, I just think that the cricumstances could be relaxed here.

Katy used her real name.

Her family name at that. Her business name.

That suggests a decent measure of good faith to me.

I agree. So she didn't read the user agreement before posting. Who does? Shit, I've been here twelve years and I haven't read it yet, and I am sure many here can say much the same thing.

I vote to let her post, as long as she doesn't try to sell any more overpriced cow parts.

ETA: (remembering many of the posts in this thread) Er, if she still wants to.

Oh sure it's all fun and easy to ridicule the spammers of this world, but are they not people too? If you prick them, do they not bleed?

Simple Linctus, dropzone and I are going to take a courageous stand today and say, "No more!"

We will not tolerate the banning of Kate and her deliciously mispriced beef!

We will not tolerate the squelching of free enterprise and those who would say, "Hello!"

We will not go gently into that good night!

The cow likely deserved it. You know, a lot of people think cattle are just a bunch of slow-witted cud-munchers. Maybe so, but most cows also have a terrible mean streak, often stomping on smaller farm creatures, purposely causing havoc with expensive agricultural equipment, and even kicking over pails and spilling milk that some poor maid needed to sell for her family to try and pay off their crushing mortgage. Ugh, cows!

The saying is really quite true. You gotta be cruel to be kine.

I love small business. What I hate is spammers.

But look, after I banned the OP, I went and made a bunch of cole slaw, because everyone was having so much fun.

Oh, I see. You know who else hated spammers? Hitler! Doug Hitler. He modded over at the Brown Shirt Message Board for a while back in '42 and he was always taking down spammers. For Adolph, who hated them just as much as Doug, but was too busy with other things to effectively moderate the forums.

Nice company you keep, Lynn.

Well maybe if you hadn't so hastily deleted Katie's link, you could be shoving a nice grass-fed brisket into a gas oven in 5-7 business days.

I'd say "Your loss," but really, it's all of ours.

I fit in my shower cubicle very well. It's just getting through the door that's a problem. Are you asking me to prove it visually? Cause I totally can.

But I didn't delete the link! I just banned Katie.

Anyway, I'm Texan. I think that I'm only allowed to put a brisket on a grill, by law. Unless it's a corned beef brisket, then I'm allowed to make a New England Boiled Dinner, as long as I don't refer to it as such.

Never order beef over the internet. Very unreliable. I tried this last year, paid the money in good faith...and then nothing. Sigh. And every time I contacted the company, they kept saying the same thing...

"The chuck is in the mail."

I do not have a gas oven either, or any oven for that matter. How I long to shove some meat into a hot oven until it gets all tender and juicy, but alas, I am oven-less. Sans oven. Once there was an oven, and now there is not! For my room is too small to fit an oven, you see, and the culture here does not really put many buns in the oven, or anything else for that matter, so they don't see a point in them I guess.

In any case, I am very sorry for your lots.

Okay, I just got over chortling uncontrollably (now I'm just chuckling maniacally)... repeating "Steve the Cow. Seriously, Steve the Cow. Steve. He's a cow. Steve. The. Cow."

I don't mind em being bossy. I am 100% understanding that I am fighting an uphill battle here, and I am also 100% understanding that it's a bit of a silly battle to be fighting given that "my side" has never been a formal "ally"* and potentially doesn't care. It's almost like I'm Big T, but less sensitive or something.

Oh, and I'm 100% understanding the mod behaviour makes sense. I just think my way of doing things also makes sense and is better by default given the greater freedom.

*In the sense that they're not a known poster here and haven't asked me for help or anything. If they're super duper spammy, then they will never come here again.
