Are there safe places in the usa to survive the end of the world?

So, yeah. If the end of the world causes those chunks to fall out of the ceiling more than usual, I'll take my chances on the surface.

Considering it's going to be December 21 in Australia about 16 hours earlier than in New York, just keep an eye on the News in Australia.

West Virginia wouldn't be a bad place to bug out. It's a state forgotten by the other 49, there's nothing there, it's fairly isolated and lots of hidey holes in the hollers.

I'm surprised about all these posts claiming that people would choose to see out the end of days in North America. As far as I know, this seems like the most likely epicentre for the apocalypse, in the form of an overdue eruption of yellowstone park. Or have I got it wrong, geologists? Are there other semi-dormant mega volcanoes that could plunge the planet into years of ashy darkness?
