This is Scrimgeour’s Small Scribbling Diary (1914 - 1916)
It is the diary of a young man who went to war in the Royal Navy during the great war. It is more than that- it details his thoughts, life and adventures and what life was aboard on a naval vessel at the time. (Silly me- of course they had no refrigeration so a diet of salt pork was obvious).
It also includes his romantic interests- he came from a priveleged background- and his connections with society.
Best of all, it is a cheap buy.
As a spoiler I would add that he was posted to HMS Invincible. The diaries end in 1916.
