I'm trying out for Jeopardy!

I signed up for the try-outs here in Houston and they called me back. They said they chose my name at random. So I'll be trying out on May 19th. I'm excited! But scared, too. It will be nerve-racking. And I don't know how I'll pay for a trip to California if I do get accepted. But I'll worry about that later.

Any game show anecdotes out there? Anybody been on Jeopardy?

I taped an episode in late February which will be on June 13.

The key to getting on the show, IMHO, is if you pass the test (I think you gotta get 35/50 right) you should present a lot of energy during the mock game- they're looking for people who the audience can root for.

If you get to california for the taping, the real trick is the (&*^(&*^ buzzer-- it's all about getting your timing down.

I never made it on, but I tried out six or seven years ago when they came to Charlotte. They gave us a paper test, 50 questions, generally the equivalent of $500/$1000 questions. It was timed to.

As you may guess, I didn't get on. They were some tough @#%@! questions, ranging from opera to current cabinet officials.
