Are Root Canals Really Toxic??

Ok so how about this one guys? According to Dr Weston Price root canals can cause cancer, heart problems, auto immune conditions etc. In general he acts like this is a nightmare and almost the worst medical procedure you can have done.

So I ask people here a question. Who here has a root canal and has no health problems since it has been done?

Let the debate begin

Link, please.

I’ve had five or six root canals. They certainly aren’t fun, but if you want a chance at keeping the abscessed tooth, they are necessary.

Or, you could just let the infection spread to the bone. Oral infections jeopardize the heart, too.

And teeth are kinda necessary.

As always, YMMV.

Dr. Weston Price is dead. I’m not taking his advice on anything.

BTW, how does one go about getting a root canal “removed?”

why would a dentist want their patients to die early? old people need a lot of dental care.

Here is just one link of the many that can be found:

I also hear root canals can cause hairloss. Does anyone here experience this after getting root canals?

Yes. I’ve had a bunch of root canals, and my hairline started receding in my 40s. Also, I know a guy who had root canals, and later he got cancer. And another guy who had root canals and had heart problems. Also I know this girl that had a root canal, and she was a bad driver. And someone else who at least two root canals and he was on Let’s Make a Deal, and didn’t win the grand prize. And I know several people who had root canals and don’t tip.

Tripolar I see your point. But look at all of the research that shows how bad root canals are. It’s hard to deny the proof. I see no proof to say they are not dangerous.

That link comes from “Dr.” Joseph Mercola; I could see it from afar…

He’s about the biggest huckster out there.

The only proof I’ve seen is the proof that anyone can start a website and say anything they want on it. Do you have any ‘proof’ published in a peer reviewed journal?

Guys look around on the net everywhere. There are people saying this like “when I pulled my root canal tooth my cancer went away” etc. I just think theres so much info on this that it must be true. People claim to get autoimmune conditions after a root canal too like hair loss.

I also read some people don’t develop problems until many years after the root canal. The immune system fights it off until you get something like the flu etc. This all makes sense to me. I am surprised so many here are so quick to dismiss this. These doctors seem reputable that are making these claims.

Also I found this about 97% of terminal cancer patients had a root canal:

http://www.dailypaul.com/215716/97-of-terminal-cancer-patients-previously-had-this-dental-procedure

This is proof that is hard to deny.

DUDE. Your “proof” is from a bunch of crackpot, conspiracy websites.

The worst damage a root canal does is to your wallet. Other than that, they’re fairly harmless. On the other hand, I had one that didn’t work and now have to have the tooth removed. :frowning: (It’s all the way in the back, so it’s not like it matters, but it hurts like hell)

NOT doing anything about an abscess, on the other hand, is, to be blunt fucking stupid. An abscess can and will kill you. You can either have it yanked, or root canaled, but don’t ignore it.
As for Mercola, you’ll learn more about medicine playing Operation than you will from listening to him.

ineedtruth, you have convinced me. And you are in luck. I would like to fund your efforts to show the world the dangers of root canals. As it turns out I have a accumulated a large sum of money in a Nigerian bank. I would like to give you all of this money, however I have a problem because some taxes are owed to the Nigerian government, and I don’t have the money to pay them. If you provide me your contact information I will give you an address which you can send money to cover the taxes and release the money to your name. I assure you this is legitimate. If you look around on the net everywhere you will see this kind of thing happens all the time, so it must be true.

Notice he doesn’t say how high a percentage of the general population(in that age range) has had a root canal.
Cancer tends to be more common in older populations for obvious reasons. And the longer someone lives, the more likely they will have at least one root canal.

wow im shocked. How can you guys ignore this data? This all seems legit to me that root canals are dangerous. It’s easy to say they are not dangerous when you do not have one.

Because your information all comes from a bunch of known crackpots. The Daily Paul? There’s an article about Sasquatch DNA, for crissakes.

Seriously, you’ll find a LOT of bullshit out there. You need to know who to trust. Now, nobody’s forcing you to get a root canal – if you’d rather have the tooth pulled, go for it. But don’t do it for bullshit reasons.

How on earth could a root canal possibly cause cancer/hair loss/auto immune disease? They’re killing the diseased part of your tooth. That’s a GOOD thing. Your teeth have absolutely nothing to do with your hair. Teeth don’t get cancer. (At least, I don’t think they do)

At one time, back in the day when dentistry was much more primative, you might have had a problem with infection spreading, but not now. Not treating the infection at all, however, you WILL have a problem. Once again, an infected tooth can be fatal.

The tooth is not clear of infection. Thats the whole point. The nerve is cut and you cannot feel the infection. How can an infected tooth cause death? The same way it can cause cancer. It triggers a autoimmune response because your body starts attacking the tooth because its dead. Now this triggers the auto immune response. You can say this because you most likely dont have a root canal.

BTW what does the link you posted have to do with root canals?

How does that cause cancer?
