Fall Chicago Dopefest

Well, after the great turnout and great people I met at the Spring, cough Summer Dopefest, I will start the Fall Dopefest thread.

Any Saturday afternoon in October works well for me.D'Agostino's worked well as a Dopefest site. The food was excellent and the drinks were reasonably priced.

I'm down wif dat. D'Ag's was a great venue, and the schedule was just right, even with the Cub's game.

It looks like I'll be in Chicago periodically for a couple of years; subscribing to this thread.

Might work for lunch on the 22nd of August. Anywhere on the blue or red.

I'm fine with Dags. Location works, plus pizza and booze in the same room = all right.

October 19 or 26? They both work for me.

D'Agostino's 1351 W Addison. 1 PM. That time worked well and there will not be Cubs baseball in October.

Both work for me. And I agree that we won't have to worry about the Cubbies.

I may be able to go as long as it's not the weekend of the marathon (Oct. 12th-13th).

My calendar is OK for 19th, but my mother-in-law (93) has been having one problem after another, so I'm can't give a 100% commitment. I'll do my best.

When is there ever (that won't immediately end with a humiliating defeat)?

Everyone still want to do the 19th? I'm free and eager for another meet up.

Still looks OK for me... However, my mother-in-law is 93, has been in and out of hospitals and rehabs, so I can never predict nothin'.

1pm is fine here, too.
There's nothing like an appointment with people I barely know to give my early afternoon day drinking that sheen of authenticity.

And keep up the good work spiking our weird views/posts ratio for the thread. Over 1000 now!

Is something wrong with me that I think 1pm is early? Don't answer that. I'll be there, but not on the dot.

I'll probably arrive 1:30ish.
Maybe the first to arrive could try to grab that same corner spot at the bar near the door.

Fisha, it just wasn't in the cards this week.

I had a great time! There seems to be some interest in a winter Dopefest, probably in January.

If you're interested, post away. I like D'Agostino's but I certainly don't want another private party to take over the entire bar area. I'm open to pretty much any place with CTA access.

I'm really sorry to have missed it, and I hope for January. (We're in the process of putting my mother-in-law into Medicaid and into a nursing facility, and every step is painful and more complicated than anticipated. I would MUCH rather have been drinking with y'all than sizing up nursing homes.)

Damn, sorry I missed it. Stupid job! Why couldn't I just be on the dole like everyone else?

January sounds good, though. D'Ag's is fine by me.

No call, no show? Don't think it didn't come up. Your attending privileges are under review, Mortiss. The bucket nurse guy where you were sitting last time is a not a fitting substitute.

It was a really fun fest, we always have a good time.

January is open at the moment. Dag's is ok but I'm open to other venues. It got kind of crowded and really loud at a surprisingly early hour but I guess that could happen anywhere.
Pffft..Charity events...

Sorry I wasn't there. Didn't even leave the airport on Thursday-I arrived, it was 40 and rainy, I said, "Forget that!"

(Actually ORD being late as usual worked in my favor-I was able to catch my next flight a day early. (Don't even try to find the logic in that sentence.))

Next time!

It sounds like you all had fun.

See... *digs toes into dirt* ...the thing about work and going back to school is that sometimes you have to push your schedule around in very unwanted ways. I am hoping to show up for the winter 'fest, though, assuming we're not buried under ten tons of snow.
