Hi, folks, and welcome to the "Comment on Cecil's Columns" folder. Though the Boss is still far from comfortable with this computer thing, we've persuaded him to check in periodically to read your comments about his columns, and respond if the spirit moves him. He has this idea that your comments will mostly consist of remarks such as "Nice job, O awesome one." We are sure no one will disillusion him. Happy posting.

Hey you two--how come you're exchanging idle chit-chat here in the Comment on Cecil's Columns Forum?

If I understand the zen of this particular message board, then, using the analogy of this message board as a house of intellectual intercourse, this forum is the Library. In other words, this is the place to exchange, in hushed and awed tones, our thoughts about Cecil's brilliant columns, or Ed's unfortunate munging of same, as appropriate. (Although, given the amount of heavy lifting Ed has to do--the house's handyman/piano player, so to speak--I guess it wouldn't hurt to compliment him on occasion, so long as it doesn't go to his head).

The happening place you want to be, where you can freely converse with each other and many other like-minded individuals, is the MPSIMS Forum, which is the message board's Rec Room, so to speak, continuing the housing analogy.

Yep. That's why there IS an MPSIMS. This new format has some strengths, but one weakness is the inability to see who's posted and skip stuff. So I'd strongly encourage that if you want to have a two-person conversation, you find another arena to do it. Hmm?
