So, I'm New.

Hey, s'pose i'd introduce myself.

My name is Purin血, (血 is the kanji for blood, just in case you weren't knowledgable on the ol' japanese-y shenanigans) or Lexi if you would prefer. I am 15. I'm an avid fan of anime and manga. I am an amateur digital/traditional artist, too.

Straight Dope user cmyk is my father. I have watched my father make a fool of himself many smart/hysterical comments and debates on this board since I was 3. I'm excited to actually be a participant and no longer look over his shoulder.

Can't wait to mingle with you all, hope to see you 'round the joint.

Now... Where's my frickin' pie?!

Ahem. Noobs are supposed to bring pie for the rest of us. You're lucky this isn't the NFL, where you'd have to pay for us to go to Vegas.

BTW, welcome.

PS. My kids don't know I post here so please don't out me.

How old are your girls? It depends on age.
And your secret is safe with me.

(When come back, bring PIE...)

Welcome, welcome! Would you like some ice cream? It goes well with pie, if we can get the pie to hold still.

Nice to have you. I've been embarrassing myself on the internet since I was 13. I'm glad my parents weren't able to see my posting history though, how do you handle that?

I warned her about the goats, and told her to prepare.

I'm just not sure she found the proper safety gear and eye protection.

11 years old, and I was writing fanfiction. You can imagine how that went. As for browsing history, a simple answer. I don't look at such immature things. :>

I would love some ice cream to go with my pie. The pie's nature certainly seems to be worthy of my tastes.

In the same way Michael Bay elevated the art form of filmmaking.

She will fit right in.
Like hand in glove, pen and ink.
Fuck you Michael Bay.

So....will she be breaking the rules every time she posts because her username has Japanese in it?

Would I be breaking the rules if I quoted her?

Thank you! Just a little tip, 'konnichiwa' has two 'n's in the romaji spelling. 'n' is the only consonant that can be next to a consonant on it's own. The 'chi' does sound like a 'shi', doesn't it? I make mistakes all the time regarding how a syllable sounds versus how it is actually written. Hope that helps for next time you would wish to use that greeting!

Thank you for the welcome! However, I thought in the FAQ it stated that we cannot have threads in another language, but explanations of words or comparisons were allowed, as well as tiny phrases like that were allowed as well. Do pardon me if i'm wrong!

No, no, not blood pudding. Well, yes, blood pudding, but there's more than one way to look at it. The reason behind my name is actually pretty stupid. Haha! But it just stuck. So, I guess besides the stupid meaning, my name means Blood Pudding. Thinking of that, it actually fits, since i'm into grotesque things.

Hi Purin. Nice to meetcha and welcome to the Dope.

Let me give you some friendly advice... when you go to your initiation here, do NOT wear any clothes you ever want to wear again. As a matter of fact, it'd be a good idea to leave a change of clothes in the car for you to change into afterwards.

Shouldn't you have been in school or studying or something instead of posting on a message board all day?

Just kidding; welcome to the boards! Let's see, in less than 24 hours you got a Mod note and you corrected someone's spelling- yeah, you're going to fit in fine.

Homeschooled. Not too much different from actual public school, but one of the perks is being able to go on message boards.

Thanks!

Oh, my goodness!
Welcome to our little refuge from sanity, Purin血.
The ideas of my progeny posting here would fill me with dread.
They think me to be a very wise and circumspect person.
Here, maybe not so circumspect and certainly not wise.

You obviously have a wonderful relationship with your paternal-unit.
That is not common.
You are both quite fortunate, and I suppose the same could be said of the rest of your family.

Have fun here. And again, welcome.

Thank you for the welcome. My parental unit and I are very close! A child unit such as myself is proud and thankful to have such a hilarious father, as I know such cases of not having good parents, or even any at all are common.
