Downton Abbey S5 - spoiler-free until broadcast in the U.S.

Previous season’s thread: Downton Abbey S4 - spoiler-free until broadcast in the U.S. - Cafe Society - Straight Dope Message Board

Susan Sarandon will host Return to Downton Abbey, with past highlights and cast interviews, on Aug. 8 at 9pm (check local listings): http://www.wgbh.org/programs/Return-to-Downton-Abbey-2479/episodes/-48296

As before, I ask that this thread remain spoiler-free, with discussion limited to the episode(s) which, at the time of your posting, have already been broadcast in the U.S. - then discuss all you want. Speculation, gossip, discussion and rumors are fine, but please, no spoilers.

Excellent! Although that means AFAICT I will have nothing worthwhile to add until Jan 2015.

Regards,
Shodan

If this thread is only for the US broadcast, why start it now? There’s going to be nothing said here until January.

discuss past episodes…upcoming season speculation?

Precisely.

Mesmo predicts: The producer will make sure no one is happy for very long. “No being happy for you!”

The “bad guy” footman/underbutler will continue to “get away with it”.

Advance publicity for Season Five – “Downton Abbey: the Next Generation - First Look at Series Five”:

(respectable broadsheet)

(a bit downmarket, but more pictures)

Just realized there isn’t anything about Lady Edith’s baby daughter, who was due to be parked with a nearby tenant farmer as of the end of Season Four.

Well sure cast Master George right, at least as far as looks go.

A DA photo error: Can you spot the mistake in this 'Downton Abbey' photo?

The (London) Telegraph says surprises are in store:

or maybe not:

(same newspaper, same day)
At least Lady Edith’s kid hasn’t done the same disappearing act as its father.

Watched “Return To Downton Abbey” last night. Thought it was going to be a repeat of last year’s, but was pleasantly surprised to find it was an updated version! Very nice!

This is excellent!

A very slight spoiler but leaves you yearning. Also some great links to each character.

I got Edwardian Cooking: The Unofficial Downton Abbey Cookbook by Larry Edwards out of the library. Cute enough. The basic problem is that he fails to make it clear if these are actual recipes found at Highclere Castle or just recipes from the period. I haven’t tried any of the recipes yet but the mushrooms in port and the Scottish shortbread look pretty good.

The weird thing:

He plays himself.

Doesn’t he always, when you think about it…?

Well the genre shift into sci fi would certainly explain that water bottle.
