This is a good thing. I have time mostly on the weekends now to visit the SDMB.

Just a WAG here, but when we tell our customers that the weekend will be reserved for maintenence and our website will be down, we can often be done with our work in 8 or 12 hours. That way we have some buffer period to COA and also, people are happy if they get part of the weekend after expecting none of it.

If your maintence is going to run for most of saturday, it's better to tell them that you'll be down all weekend, and have them happy when you're up for part of the weekend than to tell them you'll be be down saturday and then be down part of Sunday as well.

Of course, I have no clue whats going on with Jerry -- just relating how we've handled similar situations in the past.

I'm still in the process of building the read-only archive server. Probably will take me most of the day. An interesting note: here we all knew the board was supposed to be down for two days, and we came and checked it anyway. What do it mean?

It is running pretty quick; I guess that might be due to manny not being here because they think it's down.
