How many slices of pizza do you eat in one sitting?

And does it matter if it's lunch or dinner? If so, give both.

Depends on how big the pizza is, how many slices it's been cut to and what's on it. I usually eat 4 slices from an approx. 14" pizza for dinner. Lunch would be just one or two.

Of course I always ask them to make 6 slices instead of 8 because I couldn't possibly eat 8 slices.

If I'm really hungry, I'll eat half a medium pizza - so 4 slices. If I've got salad to go with it, 2 will usually satisfy. If it's breakfast, 2 for sure.

If it's one big round slice, I'll have either two sixths or three eighths of it.

With the caveat that I don't really do breakfast (I can't eat without feeling ill for quite a while after I wake and I am not a morning person. No way am I getting up earlier just to be ready to start the day with a meal.)

I've eaten entire large pizzas on multiple occasions during my life when I've been extra busy/active for a few days and need to catch up on calories. Lunch or dinner doesn't matter because my major meal varies based on what else is going on. 3-5 is probably the most normal from a typical 8 in a large pizza. So half a large pizza plus or minus a slice is about my norm.

I don't have the 20-something shrew's metabolism now that I am in my late 40s. It's still not slow and I am 6' 1.5" surviving on 2 meals/day with snacks. Calories are my friend, not an enemy. I just make sure to balance out foods/nutrients across other meals if a meal is something like half a pizza.

Uh if there is a whole pizza and I am by myself then there won't be any left. How many I eat depends on how many other people I have to share it with.

So, let me make sure I understand—you're asking how many slices I cut the pizza into before I eat it all, right?

Four. When I order a pizza, I tell the guys to cut it into quarters because I can't eat eight pieces.

At an office party, I once ate an entire 16 in pizza by myself that was left over and going to go to waste, and that was after already having maybe a half a pizza during the party.

So I guess my answer is, a lot.

If it's a large pizza, I eat the outer half first, then the middle.

When I was younger, I used to eat a large pizza, fully loaded, in one sitting.

I try to stay with one slice of crust with double the cheese and toppings, taking 2 slices and removing the good stuff to double up the other, and discarding the unloved crust.

At one time a friend used to just want the crust, no good stuff. It worked out well as I could double down my toppings without wasting anything.

I knew a guy in college who wanted to market the "Bucket of Toppings". No crust at all.

A standard New York City Neapolitan pizza is 18 inches in diameter, although the "Nonna" rectangular style (richer and oilier, like a New Haven pizza) is making inroads.

When I was a fairly strong young rose, I could handle four slices. At my advanced age, 2 or 3, depending on my hunger or gluttony. There's a place about a block and a half away that makes the best pizza outside of Naples or Wooster Street, according to our entire family, so it's usually three.

The rest gets wrapped in foil and stowed in the fridge. Ten minutes in a 350 oven restores it to its former glory in the form of a late-night snack. And gives me "Dreams of the Rarebit Fiend" style nightmares.

I usually scarf down pizza like there's no tomorrow. I can polish off a medium pizza by myself no problem. Now, a large...there might be a couple of slices left over for breakfast.

I'm a little surprised by the answers here. I'm a big guy who likes his pizza but two slices is my standard order and I'm full after that.

Generally two slices. If I'm to have any hope of consuming a significant amount of any side dish, one. My appetite is pretty small.

One. Occasionally, I buy a Little Caesar's Hot and Now, which comes cut in eight slices. I put them in the fridge, and for lunch, I reheat a slice a day until it's gone. Usually with a tomato on the side.

3 slices from a medium. 2 if it's a large pizza.

I don't eat any sides with pizza. I'm focused entirely on pizza.

Slices? What slices? The only pizza I eat these days are the frozen pizzas. I fold the whole thing over and eat it like a big taco.

Costco combo - one slice, maybe two if I'm starving (not actually starving- you know, really hungry). For other pizzas, about similiar square footage.

I take a night off from cooking a couple times a month, and that often means pizza night. I usually have one, maybe two slices. At first. But a couple hours later I'll inevitably wander back toward the kitchen and have some more. Maybe with hot sauce or some other condiment.

Pretty much this. I don't even share pizza any more. As in, if there's a group, such as when we order in for lunch at work, I'll always get my own small one (which I always think "I'll have some for later" and then I proceed to deep throat the whole thing. Mine, mine, mine.

Your pizzas might just be bulkier than the rest. I remember Western New York pizza being on the thicker side.

For comparison, something like a frozen Tombstone or Jack's pizza (which should be the same around the country), I could easily finish an entire pizza in a sitting (and will if I'm the only one eating), but I try to limit myself to 1/3 (which is the serving size listed on frozen pizza, usually.) That said, unless there are 3 people eating with us, I generally end up eating more like at least half of the pizza.

Meanwhile, at a typical Neapolitan pizza place, when I go out with friends, a single pizza is considered a single serving for us. We all order our own. These are 16" pizzas, but the crust is very thin, and the toppings are not heavy.

There is so much variation in what constitutes a "slice of pizza" (could be one of the little corner pieces from a square-cut crispy thin crust cheese pizza, could be a huge slab of a deep dish pizza loaded with toppings) that any answer to the thread title's question is meaningless without further context.

Absolutely. That's why I used the frozen pizza example, to see what if we can have some sort of comparison standard. A chain pizza might be another good baseline.

Something like a standard "New York slice" that you'd find throughout the city, one slice will do me fine. Two at the most:

Me too. I'm a bigger guy and I'm always slightly ashamed when I eat half (four slices) of a frozen pizza at home. And those are only 12" I think. When I get a large at a real pizza place, it might be more like 2 or 3 slices. And if it's Giordano's or Lou Malnati's deep dish, two slices of their small pizza is more than enough.

I think people in this thread might all be referring to different sized pies, though.

No need to feel guilty. For a typical frozen pizza, a serving size is 1/4 - 1/3 pizza. At most, you're eating two servings, and serving sizes tend to be on the conservative side. I'm surprised half a frozen pizza is particularly filling to a big guy.

Sometimes I'll get a couple of DiGiorno "thin and crispy" pizzas, cook them and then flip one on top of the other. Then cut into slices...double the toppings in every bite!

My appetite has diminished with age. I used to eat an entire large pizza with several toppings. Now it's 3-4 slices with one topping and I'm stuffed. Same with tacos: down from six or seven to two. Sad.

Is my wife there? If she is, I'll eat 4 slices of a typical take-out pizza. If not, I will eat the whole thing even if I have to keep going back over the course of a few hours.
