That actually sounds fantastic to me. I don't know why it's never occurred to me.

Preach it, G0sp3l !! Nice user name/post combo.

Pineapple on pizza is an abomination unto the food gods. Tragically it is also the favorite pizza of Mrs Iggy and Iggyette, and as far as I can tell the entire paisa region of Colombia.

As to the passing of Sam Panopoulos, they should serve an appetizer at the wake that requires picking bits of it off and shoving it to the side of the saucer. It is how those who recognize the horror that is pineapple on pizza could honor him.

Pineapple poisons pizza.

I still feel that way but am reconsidering my position. Apple pie, right? Game is often served with fruit-based sauces, and after that it's just a stone's throw to spam with pineapple.

No. I like pineapple, but not on a pizza. Isn't there something about that in Leviticus: Do not mix pineapple and pizza, for that is an abomination in the eyes of The Lord.

Italian Beef Pizza, with giardiniera... Amazing!

Hawaiian Pizza.... Wut?

I just can't do fruit on pizza, and no debate on the tomato being a fruit or vegetable. It is used as a vegetable for pizza's sake. I love pineapple though. Just not on pizza, not even on ham for that matter... I try to keep sweet and savory apart unless its a good teriyaki sauce...

Oh yes. And super added benefit: Subtract all the people who don't like pinapple, and all the people who don't like anchovies, and I'm the only one left eating the pinapple & anchovie pizza

A pizza joint closing for the Fourth of July is un-American.

I absolutely dislike pineapple on my pizza. It tastes completely foreign to everything else in there. And I also find comic the notion of putting pineapple into anything and calling it "Hawaiian." RIP. Aloha.

You know, I put pineapple in my chili too. Instead of beans, which I cannot stand.

I don't eat Hawaiian pizza, because I'm a vegetarian. But I voted yes anyway, because I'm generally in favor of creative pizza toppings - and pineapple certainly was creative at the time. And calling it "Hawaiian", although B.S., was clearly a clever bit of marketing.

Honestly, I've never tried Pineapple on pizza, mostly because it does sound like something a 6 year old would favor (like Ketchup on hot dogs, or Spaghettios). That said, if someone else is buying, I would certainly give it a taste, so long as I was visiting an other state (I suspect that even hinting at putting pineapple on Pizza could get you lynched here in New York -- it's almost as bad as eating Pizza with a fork and knife).

Pineapple on pizza like ketchup on hot dogs? Bah! The former is heaven, the latter an abomination. You're comparing apples and oranges, or at least pineapples and tomatoes.

I voted NO, not because I dislike Hawaiian pizza in particular, but because I don't like any pizza, or entree, mixing meat and fruit. Cherry sause on ham? Ick.

I often order a ham, pineapple and beef pizza. It's one of my favorites.

I don't see this as ground breaking.

Baked ham rubbed with brown sugar and pineapple has been loved for many generations. I always request the ham gravy and pineapple at cafeterias.

Ham & pineapple on pizza is a obvious combination.

So, no tomato sauce then ?

Cherry sauce on duckling? Apple sauce with pork? Caper berries on fish? Lemon-roasted chicken? Plum sauce on chicken, pork, veal, and again over vanilla ice cream for dessert? It's your palate, but I would be tempted to ask you to try some of these. Then again, my kids' name for my version of duck a l'orange was "duck all wrong." But they ask for it still, from time to time.

Uh, I lost track of the topic. I don't like pineapple on or off pizza.

I had a nice big slice of Hawaiian pizza last night, from the Sbarro stand in Ala Moana Center's food court. While eating it, I thought of Sam. That's the definition of success, having someone who never knew you think about you while using your product thousands of miles away after you're dead.
