Liam Goes in for Surgery

The time has come and the date has finally been set. Liam, my 4 year old son, is going into the hospital to be fitted for a gastric-tube for feeding purposes on September 10th. This next year is not going to be fun, but hopefully, he'll be able to put on some weight and start to develop better.

Your good thoughts for the little guy are very much appreciated.

The Tale of Brave Sir Liam

Once upon a time there was a brave knight. He was Sir Liam. Sir Liam, while his heart was true, got screwed by the Fates. Actually the Fates were unalloyed bastards when the dealt Sir Liam his cards. Fine Sir Liam had to endure many more adventures, face many more hardships and bare much more pain than one so young ever needs to.

The Fates, in their contrary way, gave Good Sir Liam a family to love him. The love protected Sir Liam when he was afraid, and comforted him when he hurt. The Bright Sir Liam knew he could always find solace in his father's arms.

Liam, I told all the koalas in Australia that you were getting tubes so that you could get fatter. They thought this was funny. The koalas said to tell you to eat more eucalyptus, but I think it's a bad idea. Eucalyptus is icky. Koalas think it tastes like chocolate milkshakes, but it's not true. If I were you, I'd go for the tubes, buddy.

As a parent who's child had heart surgery at the age of 2 I know how hard it can be to go through something like this. It's never easy to see you child roll into surgery of any kind.

I'm not a heavily religious person, but my thought and prayers are with you and Liam.
