When and why did the "Wizard of Words" become that talking computer character for "AlphaBits"?

boy, do I hate an orphan thread
I don't have a clue what the wizard looked like and I have never had Alpha Bits in my life, but I will supply what little I could find.

This thread indicates that the wizard was a "blatant ripoff of Obi Wan Kenobi. Whether they mean Sir Alec in his 1977 role, I don't know. But that would indicate it came later than 1977 and possibly was influenced by someone playing an Obi Wan Kenobi role in Star Wars.

Cereal Killers, written in 1993, would indicate that the wizard was on the box by 1993.

From here, you're on your own.
