Just had an earthquake. Don't know the rating or where the epicenter was or anything; John Beard hasn't told me yet.
Constantly, I'm hearing or feeling a vibration, usually from a car engine, or maybe from my hard drive. Always, a tiny sliver of my consciousness waits to see what that really is. Usually, it really is an engine or the computer. But this time, I felt a rumbling. I was just thinking it was the U-Haul, back again after being in the driveway of our building most of yesterday. But I heard Mr. Rilch on the phone say, "Oh boy, here it goes." I ran down the stairs, wanting to be in the same room with him Just In Case, and trying not to wonder if there would still be stairs when I got down there. I watched the action figures swaying and falling from the bookcase. Rose is still standing, but Darth Maul went down like tenpins. Homer and Wiggum are sprawled on the floor; I guess it takes more than a temblor to knock Barney and Krusty off their feet. Rogue fell right into Logan's arms; lucky girl! It stopped just when I got next to Mr. Rilch; he didn't even spill his ice cream. To revive my old sig, "Further bulletins as events warrant!"
