I remember this word "dinkledorf" from my childhood but never thought of it until lately when my wife mentioned she recalls it from her childhood as well.. It was used to describe someone, as in "AC is a dinkledorf".

Is it just a non-sensical idiom or a real word? I'm probably not spelling it right, which means my google and SDMB searches have come up negative..

Just use google. It's apparently a proper name.

http://www.boxofchalk.com/html/players/mvalentine2.html
mentions Dinkledorf's Deli.

Google provides other links for people with the last name Dinkledorf.
