. . . or give them their own spot on the Message Board. I mean this is FUCKING RIDICULOUS!!!! Ever since New Year's the Great Debates forum has gone from a dumping ground for the occassional Bible belt Jesus crackpot to the "Born Again Christian Message Board!"

Look, I'm a baptized Christian . .. BUT IF I WANT TO HEAR ABOUT JESUS, I'LL GO TO CHURCH!!!!!!!!!

Is there anything we can do about this? I'm sick of wasting time scrolling through 50 "Jesus this" and "Jesus that" messages until I get to a legitimate debate.

Sure looks like this should have posted in the BBQ Pit. Go take a look - there are several threads there already about the LBBBers.

Here's a hint - don't click on the topics that have God, Jesus, Religion, or other related words in the title.

'Legitimate debate'? Whether or not something is a 'legitimate debate' is a matter of opinion, I would think. If people are debating something, it must be a legitimate debate to them.

Well, no your wrong this is a concern about the message board so it belongs here.

"Was Jesus just a human being or was he the divine Son of God" would inspire a "legitmate debate". "Is Catholicism or Protestantism Better" would also as well.

"The Lord Loves You" then posting a statement about how you should believe in God is NOT a debate: it's just someone abusing the Straight Dope message board so that they can shove their religious beliefs down my throat.

The intent is NOT to spark debate: it's to witness.

Don't click on the topics? How can I NOT when every other one is one of these things!!!!

theuglytruth, the ugly truth is this: Just because there is a specific forum for these things is not going to limit them to that forum. These guys are not going to sit around and witness to each other. (The phrase "preaching to the choir" comes to mind.) They are going to go where they can argue with us heathens.

Great Debates is where this stuff belongs, and I for one am glad to see that it's pretty much staying there.
