You're an idiot. In this thread you make the essential jerktrollish post followed by the "I was being sarcastic" explanation. That's not original, son. Since you won't be here much longer, would you mind answering something, please? Why do you bother? Why go through registering and everything just so you can proclaim your ignorance to the world? What kind of validation do you get from that? I'd think that, if I was a moron, I wouldn't want everyone to know. Maybe you just like getting any response--even if it's negative. If so, more power to you. May your efforts result in ostracism wherever you go. Maybe you like the anonymity of a message board where you can spout things and run away. I have nothing witty or new to say, but I do want llamasex to know that I think he's an asshole.
Why, you ask? Well, maybe he'll realize that comments like that just aren't welcome here, no matter what forum you're in. Then again, maybe not, and the e-mails sent to the mods and admins'll do some good.

Why are you wasting your energy, Rysdad? He's obviously a troll. The only thing that has me wondering is the fact that he registered 8 months ago, and has only 23 posts, 6 of which were in the thread you mentioned. He's one of our Long-Term NewbiesTM, and he hasn't got past his "fumbling around like a jackass" phase. I'm sure the mods will either smack him around a bit, to knock some sense into him, or (more likely) they will just kick him out. Let's move on.

I'm not intending to defend llamasex, per se, but I do think that he's being unfairly jumped on for his very tasteless joke in the Jehovah's witnesses thread. How was his remark qualitatively different than any of the Challenger jokes, or any other black humor? Obviously it wasn't particularly appreciated, but seeing humor in tragedy does not automatically make him an asshole. One can even imagine his original remark being directed towards the parents in a kind of "be careful what you wish for" sense.
Of course, maybe he's just a prick troll. I dunno. But it's all too easy to misjudge the mood of a conversation, particularly an on-line one, and well-meaningly make a truly horrifyingly inappropriate remark. |

I don't know if the info llamasex posted is true or not but I hope he knows that, as throatshot said, posting personal info here is not a good idea at all.
I don't really want involved in this thread but I'd like to add that I think lamasex's comment was very inappropriate, sarcasm or not. I have a dark sense of humor too but that was too over the top for me. I don't know if it's worth banning him for it, that's up to the mods. Just let him get an ass ramming here and I'll be happy. |

For what it's worth, I laughed when I read llamasex's extremely tasteless joke. It may not be the cleverest utterance around here, but it's a great example of black humour.
That the OP can't distance himself enough to enjoy it, or at least ignore it, is his problem, not llama's. |

So dark humor is only bad when it is slipped into a thread, but if the entire thread is dark, then that's okay?
I understand it was tasteless, I saw it as such but also got that it was a groaner, a bad, dark joke. Can we all take a step back, realize that some folks have slightly different senses of humor and let it go? <sheesh>

Thanks Rysdad for making this thread, so the other one can stay directed at the evilness of the parents, rather than the tastelessness of llamasex.
It seems relatively simple to me llamasex posted an attempt at humor that, in my view, was completely tasteless (at best). Inappropriate? Sure. Dumb? yep Asinine? Yesiree Bob! Funny? I don't thinks so, but others may. Is he a troll? Can't really say yet. Ban him? No way. Quote:

That's the whole purpose of a tasteless joke. Thirdly, again, he made a bad joke, while gobear seemed serious in his wish for Llamasex to suffer the loss of a loved one. Am I the only one here who is shaking her head in disbelief at all of the people jumping llamasex's shit over this? For fuck's sake, what a bunch of reactionary, knee-jerking crybabies.
He has 27 fucking posts (including the ones he made trying to defend himself, I have no idea how many posts he'd made before the comment in question), and everyone's got their panties in a wad because he hasn't yet figured out how to use the rolleyes smiley. When questioned about the comment, he said outright that it was meant to be sarcastic (in a "Well, the idiot sure got what he wanted" sort of way). Why is this not sufficient explanation? If he'd used the rolleyes smiley to begin with, we'd all have understood from the get-go what he meant, and the pile-on would never have happened. Why do y'all *continue* to pile on even after he's explained himself? Am I missing something here??

"Don't be a jerk" may be applicable in all forums, but certainly it means something different in the pit. A vast majority of pit threads are laced with profanity and call people such nasty names as "goat felchers" and worse. If IRL someone were to throw insults at me even close to some of what goes on here I would certainly think they were a jerk. I guess what I mean is that saying "don't be a jerk" in this instance doesn't seem to mean much more than saying, "I don't like what you wrote so get the hell out." There are many insults that have already been thrown around in this thread that qualify (IMO) as much more jerkish behavior than a joke gone awry. |

Well, frankly, I agree with MGibson, in that I found the dark humor to be worth a giggle. Yeah, a bit more tact would be appreciated, and yeah, a bit more respect would be nice, and yeah, I think that, above all, it was an assholic post... but jeez, we've laughed at worse. I mean, if we allowed ourselves to get pulled down by every example of scum-sucking (in)human activity, then we become a very sorry, stressed-out, angry bunch.
But my advice to Mr. Llamasex... just apologize. There's no shame in saying "Oops, I didn't mean to piss off so many people." It's not "giving in to popular opinion." It's common-fucking-sense. And try not to piss people off in the future... subtle humor is far more amusing than the over-the-top, Tom Green style. |

I searched for previous posts by llamasex, and I only found one that was "beyond the pale," as it were. If his posts in the thread I mentioned in the OP really were attempts at humor (however poor and inappropriate), then I'll withdraw the troll label. Some of you probably know that I have a hot button when it comes to child abuse. I worked for several years in a shelter for abused children, and as a guardian ad litem for the courts, and I've seen evidence of abuse, no, torture, so extreme as to be incomprehensible. I personally find extremely few, if any, jokes about child abuse funny. I make no apologies for that. Quote:
