24: Season 4: Episode 21 (3:00am - 4:00am) - Unboxed Spoilers!!

False alarm, it was just a bottle rocket. The REAL nuke is in…

TICK tock… TICK tock…

Gahh…heart…exploding…won’t…be able…to see…conclusion…

Two hours left.

Will they be to shoot down the missile?

Actually, they said two episodes left, but this was definitely hour 21. So there should be three hours left. I guess they’ll be doing a 2-hour season finale?

Frell, Missle AWAY!

now we need to fond a way to intercept the missile in flight, lets hoe those Patriot batteries are ready to fly

hmmm, ways to shoot down an in-flight missle…

lets assume the flight path is a straight arc, ground to ground, and the warhead will not arm until it’s on final approach to it’s target

simply find the highest point in the trajectory arc and use some form of missile to destroy it, maybe a Maverick or series of Sidewinders to take out the propellant (appears to be a solid-fuel missile) and find some way to slow the warhead’s (unarmed) decent, hopefully it will not detonate

if the warhead is armed at launch, it will have to be destroyed at the highest point of the arc, and hope the fallout and radiation will be minimized, allowing it to reach the destination is NOT an option…

As long as it stays in the air for almost an hour, then I say yes.

Edgar really didn’t say anything incriminating, he simply didn’t help the cause at all. The Chinese can still prove nothing. This makes me wonder what’s going to happen to that poor fool who pulled down his mask.

Jack really likes that shoot them in some random limb then stomp on the wound trick doesn’t he?

Thank God we secretly completed that Star Wars program, but before we can activate it, we must have Jack yelling at a few people who are hesitant to hit the button to activate full country protection ;).

Though from next week previews, looks like Son of Heller was more involved than previously though. We get the SecDef back, but we need Jack to yell at him a few times to get what we need out of him.

Any chance that this missile is so slow that it takes 3 hours to fly to its destination?

Just checked the Fox site.

Next week, episode 22 at the usual time, 9 PM.

Monday, May 23 will be the 2-hour season finale, 8-10 PM.

Oh, and predicted ending:

Jack flys to China, kills the Communist leaders, and brings democracy to the People’s Republic ;).

…or millions of people will die!!!

…or a BILLION people will die.
Hey, you gotta adjust for the population.

IsSiddiqui, please remember to put stuff from next week’s previews in spoiler boxes, as there are some folks who don’t watch those. (Not me, but some of the usual denizens of these threads).

Next week: Jack steals a fighter jet from a repair bay, but unfortunately it has no loaded armaments. So he flies out to the missile and yells… “Where are you going?! WHERE ARE YOU GOING!!!”

Lets just hope the “CountrySide Impact AirBags” deploy properly…

you know, those giant airbags that the D.O.D. have been surreptitiously installing all over the country…

then again, given Jack’s propensity for shooting stuff, all he needs to do is shoot the missile down then stand on it’s fin and yell at it…

y’know, 'cause intimidating electronics devices works just as well as intimidating people…

Ooops… well, hopefully a mod happens by.

Anyway, I don’t think we’ve gotten enough ninjas on this show.

Self destruct… SELF DESTRUCT

Half the fun this season is coming here to pick the episodes apart. My nit-to-pick this week; I see the Chinese have that magical “image enhancing technology” we frequently see on other police and spy dramas. At least the image it created on 24 tonight was not terribly unrealistic. Unfortunately is WAS good enough to allow the Chinese to match a face in fives minutes. I’m aware that face recognition software exists, but have heard that it is unreliable even with a crystal clear image.

There were the usual Enterprise-style transporting of characters from one place to another within impossible time frames. And Jack not only transports but changes clothes (and maybe even showers) in mere seconds.

Lastly, even in a diplomatic crisis, it stretches credibilty that the Chinese security guy would be allowed to interrogate CTU personel like that. And those men who were supposed to be escorting him out of the CTU building should be fired. Unfortunately they are invisible and will be hard to locate.

Nah, they’ll just be assigned to be Jack’s partners.

Oh my God, that was hilarious…I about ruptured myself trying to contain my laughter so as not to wake up my sleeping kids.

Hmmmmm…so how will Jack kill Marwan?

Well, Jack was already at CTU since the start of this episode, and he just changed back into his suit from the beginning of the day (when he came to CTU as a DOD suit to meet with Driscoll). That part’s not so unbelievable – guys can change clothes pretty fast.

But the Chinese consulate guy seemed to get there faster than the 15 minutes it took the strike team to drive back last week…

No inside info, but I am betting Edgar flips out and kills him.
