Well, by definition, “serial” indicates one after another, like Ted Bundy or Jeffrey Dahmer. “Mass-murderer” would indicate a killer who killed many at once, like that guy who shot 32 people and himself at Virginia Tech, or Jim Jones.
The third catagory is “spree Killer,” people who go on killing sprees of a few weeks,and usually get caught, like DC’s freeway snipers.
