I highly recommend The Emperor’s Edge by Lindsay Buroker. It is the first novel in the series and available for free. It’s a blend of steampunk and fantasy. The character and world building is top notch. Buroker is an absolutely fantastic independent author and I’ve come to be a huge fan.
