Nothing, really. Just tastes good, I suppose. It’s one of the common American preparations of cottage cheese.
Needn’t be. This little neighborhood place does both a sweet and a savory ( cream gravy ) version. See “The Demon Lover” under breakfast or lunch.
re that list: 78, I think, if I’m counting correctly.
I won’t apologize for the tangent: what have you had that maybe should have been on the list? I’ve had beef brain burritos, boar, and tongue.
Sounds like a King Crimson album, come to think of it.
76, and I have had crickets. Go me.
I counted 75. Don’t much care whether I get to the other 25 or not. Some seem so common, but really are just regional, I guess.
Christ. I counted 9. Results of poverty and southern cooking I guess.
71, at age 30, but I didn’t bother looking up some of the stuff I didn’t recognize. Sheep brains and eggs and rocky mountain oysters are tasty dishes I would add to the list.
I have a pretty high spicy food threshold but I’ll be happy never to try phaal. 43 for me.
Only 37 for me. Marked in red.

- I grew up poor (and in the 1970s before a lot of ethnic dishes made inroads in the US), then the guy my mom married was very meat-and-potatoes. I became vegetarian a little before moving out, and have remained so since, so the many animal-based items on the list that I hadn’t already had will not be experienced.
Only 25 here. I’m a vegetarian and there’s a lot on this list that I’m pretty unlikely to ever try.
Don’t feel bad. I’ve had 29, and if I hadn’t lived in Seattle for many years, it would have been about 5. Very few of the foods on that list are served/available in Iowa. I think morels are about as exotic as it gets around here.
I just went through the list with my oldest daughter and she got a 70.
Not bad for a 14 year old.
- I am the least adventurous eater you have ever seen.

4–This is a mushroom?
5–You mean, together? If I’ve had them separately, does that count?
6–I don’t know what this is–never heard of it
12–Maybe, I used to eat at Jack in the Box
16–This doesn’t ring a bell
17–Never heard of this
18–I really don’t eat ice cream
19–Never heard of this
20–I’ve had stewed rabbit, but it wasn’t called rabbit stew
21–Never heard of this
22–Never heard of this
I used to eat at a Thai restaurant a friend worked at, and I had a tendency to forget the names of things, even though I liked them. The things I remembered best had translated names, i.e. “Beef salad hot.”
This means that I did have 88 things on the list, which I think is not bad for a picky eater. Frankly, gourmet food is probably wasted on me. I’m not a foodie.
Now that’s just plain pitiful. I don’t feel bad at all about my 47 now.
61: Fugu, but no Lassy.
Some of them I’m not quite sure as some of them might have been an ingredient in the dishes I’ve had. Some ethnic foods, I’ve tried so many samples I can’t quite remember them all.
I’ve had the ones in blue.
